Saturday morning 05/27/2023, the fiancé and I went to have breakfast at Stella's. Being born and raised here in Billings, Stella's has always been my favorite place to eat breakfast. When I heard that Stella & Ziggy were selling and retiring I was ecstatic for them but also sad, and grew a concern about the future of the restaurant. I was nervous and patiently waited to see how the new owner would handle the business over these past couple of years. I was hoping and praying he would honor and respect the quality, tradition, and core values that the original owners established. From my personal experiences, to say I'm impressed is an understatement. Every time I have been in since the change of ownership, I still get hit with the same wonderful aromas that has always been, the staff in the front still have the same great customer service and the food, still amazing🤤. The pancakes still melt in your mouth and the fresh sqeezed orange juice was bomb. Everything was just as yummy as it has always been Im giving two shoutouts The first goes to our waitress, Chicky. She was amazing! Very attentive, nice and extremely personable. 10/10 for her service and positive attitude. At the time we were eating breakfast, I had asked Chicky about the new owner Steve, and she gave great praise and told me that the he helps as much as he can when he is there. She had mentioned that he was in fact there today(Saturday) in the dish pit helping the dishwasher. Now, I dont know about you guys, but in my many years for fast food all those years ago I never witnessed, nor heard of a owner that would help the dishwasher. Then as we are leaving I get the pleasure of meeting him while he was cleaning out the garbage dumpster! To me, everything I heard, witnessing this, as well as meeting him, has all my doubts at ease. So second shoutout to the new owner! Steve is very nice, and in my opinion he is doing amazing taking care of the restaurant. 10/10. I'm glad he...
Read moreStella's Kitchen and Bakery is Stellar! I stayed at the Best Western Plus Clocktower two separate nights while I was passing through Billings Logan Airport, inbound then heading out. Stella's Kitchen is a perfect example of a classic American diner. Getting to eat here as the complimentary breakfast from the hotel was a very enjoyable bonus and actually the main reason I would stay at the hotel again. Even though the complimentary menu is limited those options are still great. The eggs and bacon with toast were great and perfectly fried. I'm sure they are fried in real butter instead of oil which is always much superior in my opinion.
The breakfast that really stood out though was the French Toast. Instead of the normal stack of sandwich slices what was delivered was a giant block of a soft and sweet platted loaf that had to have been baked that morning before getting cut up and dipped in the egg to be fried. It was really excellent. With syrup it would be too sweet for me to have every day but I could easily devour it without any added sweetener. I'm actually looking forward to my next trip through Billings just for that French Toast.
Another good thing they have is a fresh orange juice squeezing machine that you or your kids can watch fill your glass if you decide to order the fresh squeeze option. It's just a semi unique thing that I haven't seen very often. The coffee is ok but not great. Next time I will ask if they can make a strong pot for me. It was just a bit thin for me tho I find that pretty normal unless you are at a truck stop or somewhere in the North West along the I-5 corridor.
Stella's was also packed with locals which is another testament to how good they are. I was served by Lori who was an absolute delight. She made me laugh several times and brought a smile to my face. She seems to be a person who evokes everyone's beloved grandma and treats everyone like family. She's a...
Read moreGreat restaurant. Definitely recommend stopping by for a good brunch. They serve everything from breakfast pancakes, french toasts, crepes, to giant cinnamon rolls the side of an adult human head. Among other breakfast favorites. If you're in the mood for a nice lunch, they have soup, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. I ordered the breakfast burrito and the white caramel cinnamon roll topped w/ chopped walnuts smothered in caramel sauce. My CA and fellow FA ordered the french toast breakfast, and the FO ordered the breakfast burrito and a plate of berry crepe. He was nice enough to let us try the cream cheese filling and berries. It was savory, not overly sweet and delicious. I look forward to many more visits here and trying out the rest of Stella's menu. After we were all ready to go into a food coma, both the CA Tyler and FO Cameron ordered a couple of sweet treats including the famous gigantic cinnamon roll that I have been told about for a year now. Until next time, Stella's. Can't wait to try the other menu items you offer.
UPDATE May 26th, 2024!!! While on a 4 day flt sequence, BIL was my first scheduled layover. With that said, I was really looking forward to Stella's for breakfast. After walking in the door, I noticed they were pretty busy. I arrived at 9:30 am. I was greeted and only behind 2 people in line. While others were waiting for their table. Understandable. So, instead, I ordered to go. After ordering 2 overmedium eggs with sausage and a side of tomatoes and fresh avocado, I felt that surely it shouldn't take too long as I have a 4 leg flt to work starting in a couple hours. After nearly 40 minutes of waiting patiently, I requested status on my to go order. To my surprise, it wasn't even started. So I decided to jus cancel the order. Very disappointed and not gonna be able to eat until tomorrow due to my dietary time...
