This review is a bit late, but better late than never. Shaggy’s in Biloxi is genuinely my favorite restaurant on the coast. This year, my husband and I visited Shaggy’s 3-4 times during our yearly trip to Mississippi for Cruisin’ the Coast, and had nothing but great experiences. Each time we went to Shaggy’s, I felt like I was at home. The last visit before we went back to Louisiana was especially my favorite.
Christine, the guest specialist, welcomed us, complimented our puppy, and accommodated our request for a particular table. While we were waiting, we got to know Kyle, who is a manager, and had a nice conversation with him about cars. Since we were in town for Cruisin’ the Coast, it was a fitting conversation. We also saw Bri, another manager, who recognized us from a prior visit. She said hello to our puppy, Zeppelin, who is a great judge of character and loved Bri. Bri visited with us for a few minutes but it was busy so she had to take care of a few other things and circled back as she could. My husband and I are talkers so we also got to know Mr. Ivan, aka Mr. Cleans. Turns out he has an interest in cars too. Drake was our daymaker (waiter) and didn’t miss a beat. I couldn’t believe how calm and collected the entire crew was during such a busy time. Also, considering how crowded it was, everything was running SO smoothly!
Now, keep in mind, we are talking to the staff while they’re tending to other tables and making sure all guests had a pleasant experience. The restaurant was packed, but it didn’t feel like it. Shaggy’s really has everything figured out. I feel like the Shaggy’s crew treats me better than my friends do, and I’m not sure if that’s a compliment to Shaggy’s or an insult to my friends, lol, but I mean it when I say I wish I worked with a team like that. They are fantastic. Everyone has a great work ethic.
I haven’t even mentioned the food and drinks. The flounder sandwich is my favorite. SO GOOD! I also enjoyed the flounder plate. It was such a generous serving. For an appetizer, the blue crab dip is delicious and a generous size! Pro tip: sautéed vegetables as a side. You’re welcome!
We were drinking beer (I’m writing this sober so it ain’t the beer talking, haha) and good ole Coca Cola classic, both of which were delicious - beer poured perfectly, coke had the perfect carbonation (I know you know what I mean) and they even brought us water to make sure we actually hydrated. You better believe they even brought water for our puppy!
Shaggy’s has a doggy menu which really works out for us because my dog does not like to eat when he’s away from home. However, he will eat anything off of the doggy menu in about 3 seconds. The rice and chicken is his favorite.
To our puppy: thanks for being a great conversation starter. You stole the show as always, and we wouldn’t change it for the world.
To our new friends at Shaggy’s: y’all are awesome, I hope upper management realizes that. I’m sure they do, but I want to reinforce that. Thank y’all for contributing to our Cruisin’ the Coast experience, and our Mississippi gulf coast getaway. I can’t...

If you’re cruising down the Gulf Coast and don’t stop at Shaggy’s Biloxi Beach, you’ve officially done your road trip wrong. This place is an island paradise wrapped in red, white, and blue, planted smack dab on beautiful Biloxi Beach with views that’ll make your jaw drop and food that’ll have you waving the white flag of surrender because you just can’t finish it all.
We were lucky enough to have Shelly as our waitress, and let me tell you — she was a force of nature. Friendly, fast, and full of that Southern sunshine that makes you feel like you’ve been coming there for years. She didn’t just take care of us — she hustled like a pro and still took time to help us hunt for a West Virginia license plate on the walls of this patriotic seafood haven. Spoiler alert: there wasn’t one. So let me say this loud for the folks in the back — if you're heading down from the Greatest State in the Union, West by God Virginia, bring an old license plate and make history. These folks NEED it.
Now to the food — bring your appetite or bring a cooler because the portions are huge and everything was outstanding. We started with the Beach Ball appetizer — crispy, golden-fried mashed potato balls stuffed with cheese and bacon, served up with queso and ranch dipping sauces. My wife, who is a self-declared Ranch connoisseur, declared Shaggy’s ranch the best she’s ever had. That’s high praise in our house.
I went all in on the fish and chips, and it did not disappoint. Crispy, flaky fish, perfect fries, and hush puppies that were so good I almost forgot to breathe between bites. Every dish was hot, fresh, and full of that coastal flavor you hope for when dining on the Gulf.
As for the drinks? They were coming before I could ask. Seriously — someone was always nearby, topping off, checking in, or just adding to the good vibes. Shelly was amazing, but the whole staff pitched in. Teamwork like that is rare, and it made the experience feel special.
And did I mention the C-130s from Keesler AFB fly right over the restaurant like they’re saluting your meal? Because they do. 'Merica.
Bottom line: Shaggy’s Biloxi Beach isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a full-blown celebration of food, fun, patriotism, and Southern hospitality. It’s worth the drive from West Virginia, and when you go, don’t forget: bring a license plate and represent the Mountain...
Read moreLocated right by the beach, this establishment is a good spot to get seafood right before or after playing in the water. I would say most of the food is good and not amazing, which I am perfectly okay with.
All the fried food relied on sauces to help provide flavor, which was a disadvantage because the food itself was not sufficiently seasoned to provide flavor. This included the fried green tomatoes that was slightly seasoned, and some of the seafood items on the captain's platter. On the platter itself, the fish was not seasoned at all, so it needed tartar sauce for flavor. The hush puppies and the crabcakes were great and I could easily eat them by themselves and felt like they tasted good. The shrimp had good size. The dish overall had more fries than seafood which was meh, but I could deal with that since there was a lot of food overall.
My partner had the flounder and I tried some. Both of us agreed on that it neede more salt, particularly for the fish and the veggies. The crab tasted great. Having lemon on top of the fish was a positive as lemon always got that special touch for fish dishes as we know.
The blue & claw was a special item on the board rather than the menu, and that was the most enjoyable dish we've had. The crab claws were trimmed to make it easy for us to eat, which ended up being the case for sure, and the juice provided really good flavor, making it difficult to eat the claws without trying to coat the juice around it. I even tried dipping some of the fish from the captain's seafood platter to the juice and it turned out great!
The cheesecake was excellent as well, especially since it was blueberry and white chocolate, which was already a combination that I didn't see often. There was a good flavor and textural distinction between the crust and the cream cheese portion, which made the dish very enjoyable.
Overall I would recommend this place! The first time I have been here was 7 years ago, so it was great to see this place still thriving many...
