CJ's Beach house in Birch Bay:
The WORST service I've ever seen at a restaurant before. My family and I waited 15 minutes before seating, that's about average. The table was completely soaked with water along with the floor being full of crumbs and food and soaking wet. The waitress refused to even wipe up the table or sweep the floor for us. Upon ordering we asked repetitively to have her bring us our drinks. Let alone bring out rolls. After waiting 50 minutes, the waitress FINALLY brought out rolls. Following the rolls, 30 minutes later we finally received our salads. Although, our salads did NOT come with forks because there was not "One single clean fork in the whole entire restaurant" according to the waitress. They expected us to eat a salad with our fingers. Meanwhile the waitress would not refill any drinks because she was too busy. The restaurant was not packed or extremely busy. Almost 1.5 hours of waiting after we sat down the waitress finally came back to our table and told us that there were no more chicken strips for the kids meal. She has no answer to when asked why it took an hour and a half for her to come and tell us that. Another 35 minutes went by and our food finally arrived. All while a party next to us who came 40 minutes after we did, received drinks and food before we even have, even though we had ordered our food directly after drink due to knowing what we all wanted. Then our food was either mixed up or wrong. While we were eating we asked the waitress to speak with the manager. Then our bill came and the kids meal was still on our bill. While we were loudly discussing how it was still on our bill the waitress came back and fixed it but once again we asked to talk with the manager. The waitress came back and had said, "She's just too busy back in the kitchen to come out and talk with you". We then asked if she could go back and ask if we could have a discount on our bill or something for all of our waits and issues and poor service at the restaurant. Waitress came back and said, "the owner said no she will not discount anything on your bill." As the waitress followed with saying, "And if you refuse to pay we'll just call the cops on you" and proceeded to tell us how the environment in the back of the kitchen was quite "hostile" and disaster like especially with the ticketing system. We were all appalled to know that the Owner had refused to come out and speak with a customer let alone have such crappy service from a waitress/hostess. Even if the owner would have told us she would come out to talk to us after cooking whatever she was back there would've been fine but nope she didn't care. I would not ever recommend this place to ANYONE with a company that has such terrible service knowing the owner doesn't even care about...
Read moreIt’s so unfortunate, we were looking forward to trying CJs, we called today and spoke with a very friendly person named Shannon. When I asked do you serve clam chowder she said yes we do everyday!!! I said that is an amazing answer!!! We head straight down for dinner. We arrived and were quickly seated. Not super busy, patio had more customers but we wanted to eat inside tonight. We waited for quite a while to be greeted at our table. That server came and said “ sorry not sure how long you were waiting I wasn’t told you were here” we quickly no worries made lite chat lighten the mood. Server was quite rude, at first introduction and didn’t get any better. You asked a question and she rudely answered. We were shocked and thought maybe if we lightened the mood more she might get better. That didnt help at all. This server wasn’t happy when we asked questions about the menu, asked for water or even vinegar. When we she came around we would try and get her attention and she would t stop and come to our table. She wasn’t friendly no matter what. Since 2 of us didn’t eat all our meal (blah no Flavor fish didn’t seemed cooked all the way) she didn’t ask if everything was ok or could she get us anything. My friend asked for a container looked around the table and said container container container and walked away. Came with 3 containers so small that could even fit the French fries. My friend went and grabbed containers himself. She delivered the bills, and then quickly grabbed them back and delivered new ones , which were incorrect anyways. We waited a while she didn’t come back so we went up to the area that had the cash machine and she stated loudly I told you I was coming back. (She never said that) She didn’t make this beautiful place friendly or enjoyable or even made it worth coming back. No manager on site and the male that told us the manager was on holidays didn’t make it any better. I won’t add the servers name here but I will most definitely supply it to the manager and the owner. She doesn’t do this restaurant any favors or gain loyal customers. But I thank Shannon for the kind experience on the phone when we called about the clam chowder. It was...
Read moreApparently the patrons of CJs do not have the option of returning an item that is not suitable. They also do not have Managers on the premises to discuss their concerns. I was dining with my elderly parents (both nearing 90 years old) and ordered a wedge salad to share as an appetizer. It arrived with our meals. The salad consisted of a wedge of lettuce, a large slice of poor quality tomato and cucumber, 2 whole slices of bacon and a few slices of avocado on top. On the side were a few Tbsp of blue cheese. This is not what a wedge salad is supposed to look like and definitely would be very challenging to share with 3 people. When the waitress returned with a container of dressing that had been missing I asked her politely if we could possibly substitute this salad for a house salad which would be easier to share and for my parents to manage. I said this salad was not what I was expecting. She said this was how the salad was served in fine restaurants indicating to me she had had this conversation before about this item. I told her this was not how this item was usually served. She said she could bring another salad but that we would still be charged for this unsuitable one. She said that was restaurant policy that once an item is ordered it cannot be changed. She said it was the Manager who dictated this. I asked to speak with the Manager but was told the Manager was not on the premises. It was at this point that I decided I did not want to spoil the evening with my parents by pursuing this ridiculous conversation. I could see they were becoming very uncomfortable. We did not end up eating this unappealing pile of ingredients. All items are supposed to be chopped finely into a dressing which would have been easier for my parents to chew. I encourage the chef to google some photos of wedge salads. My father paid the bill and I'm sure the waitress got a good tip which she did not deserve. She had also blamed me for the timing of the arrival of the food although she had not clarified when we wanted the salad. Beware of what you order at CJs as you will be stuck with it, apparently customer satisfaction is not...
