UNO Pizzeria & Grill — Restaurant in Birch Run Township

Went to Uno for lunch on February 24th 2025 with my girlfriend just past noon. We sat in the section of the restaurant with a bar in it. Were seated without silverware or napkins. Ordered a tall Guinness and a Truly type sugarless zero carb berry drink. Ordered a Bacon Cheddar burger and a Mushroom burger with provolone. It took over 40 minutes to get our food after ordering even though there was only three other tables with customers in the restaurant. Our waitress/bartender "Ronee" brought our food and quickly walked away, my girlfriend asked if we could have some napkins and silverware. She gave us some silverware and napkins and disappeared until it was time for us to get our bill and pay our tab. My burger was burnt with a black crust completely surrounding the lukewarm burger, the two pieces of bacon were totally undercooked and rubbery, the fries were cold and gross. My girlfriend's Mushroom burger was served lukewarm as well with cold mushrooms on top and her fries were also cold. The Bartender/waitress eventually reappeared after disappearing throughout our entire meal and asked how our food was while bringing our bill. I explained that the burger I was served was the worst Hamburger I had ever gotten from anywhere and that our meals were not good at all. She just said, "oh you should have told me" I was shocked by her statement since she was totally absent throughout our entire meal!? Our bill for this disgusting culinary experience at Uno Restaurant:$50 for 2 Hamburgers and two drinks. With $15 tip for the horrible experience: $65 total Was not offered any compensation of our meal or any apology from "Ronee". Why would I leave a great tip for such lousy service and poorly prepared meal? Because I'm not trash, even though our experience there was. I can't believe I'm writing a poor review of my former favorite pizza restaurant. I always order a medium Winy City Works. It's thin crust with a lot of toppings. The receptionist on the phone was as rude as she could be with an instant retort of you can order extra large or a small, no medium. So I said I guess a small. When I got home I found a tiny pizza cut into squares instead of slices...that threw me off because it's usually slices. There was a little toppings as they could get away with, including the sauce. They only covered the crust out to about 2 inches from the edge. It tasted like they dumped a salt shaker on it and was so dry I could barely swallow. It was flavorless other than salt and that was why I always liked The Works. The outside edge had plumped up into a pillow like crust that was orange for some reason...not because of sauce. The meat crumbles were burnt to more like crunches instead of chewy. $16.00 for that? Sorry They must be under new management or something because they were always excellent. Update!! I've been back 3 more times since my first review. Each time the experience was wonderful!! The third trip Bill the co-owner wasn't there but Josh a manager took care of me. And he did wonderful. The 4th visit was just two days ago and I had Bill and Dawn again. They remember me each time. And it's so wonderful. I really appreciate their service and attention to detail. This is officially our go-to date night place. I'm still sitting at the restaurant now. I'm so very happy I came here. I have a life threatening allergy to garlic. The owner Bill was so wonderful. He made me a pizza sauce that's garlic free and when he made a oops and forgot some of my toppings he was so embarrassed because he had been so focused on making certain pieces of my pizza garlic free for me he forgot to add some of the other toppings. And went back and made me another pizza for me. I want to say this is only the second time ive ever been anywhere and could get a garlic free pizza since my allergy developed.
