During my visit to this Captain D's restaurant, I was greeted or rather told "what you want" twice in this particular visit by a African American cashier by the name of Vanessa.
The conductivity by this cashier at Captain D's was extremely rude and disrespectful from time begin of my order all the way til I exited the restaurant.
It was the evening and there wasn't many customers inside so our orders were complete rather quick; the cashier girl Vanessa stares at me calling me over repeatedly to pick up a order as I were getting ready table and condiments at the side station by the fountain.
Knowingly she handed me the incorrect order, and started calling out my grilled tilapia meal that I justed ordered 5-7 minutes ago while walking around the restaurant and then shrugged her arms as 'oh well' probably to discard, but conveniently the manager was near for me to inform her that the cashier (intentionally) gave me the wrong order and which was the correct one.
In between eating my meal, I had to get refills from behind the counter by Vanessa since the soda selection isn't completely at the outside service station/fountain area.
This rude, immaturely childish cashier repeatedly filled my cup up with ice more then soda, when chance gave to verbally interact with coworkers near her and in the kitchen, she deliberately shouted saliva all over my open cup in their exchange and even grabbed a lid putting her fingers all under it which I admonished her to don't put a lid on as I got one from the fountain area instead.
Her filling the cup with ice, and etc mishaps were making sense as I'm not from Birmingham and never met this cashier a day in my life that she had a attitude problem and some issue has her bitter and it's starting to convey publicly at work. Before I left I went to get one last refill, in which courteously I asked her that after she would attend the order from the fellow customer who had just came in, if she may refill my cup one last time before I departed. Her retort was "I had enough of him can you see what he want girl", which was directed toward an assistant manager who professionally and politely took the time to do so, which I complimented her on her patient conduct.
04/17/2014 I came back to this same Captain D's and speak with two African American short, stout employees in question over the name of the rude, disrespectful cashier from yesterday to fill this exact complaint out. They both were unwillingly cooperative to give Vanessa's name, which one was a assistant manager who claimed she just started working here for a month now yet she was able to recognize another employee sitting a few seats down from me that works the same shift as the rude cashier from yesterday which indicated to me she was lying.
...They were basically covering for the misconduct of a fellow employee.
Vanessa coincidentally shortly dropped by which is how I saw her name tag.
I come back to Captain D's to make a order around 6:30 pm later that night. Second shift...this is where the DYSFUNCTION continues unto a tremendously, disgusting point.
I go up to the counter area to place an order around 6:34-35, and I notice one of the cooks who was conversing with the dysfunctional cashier from yesterday the most kept glancing up towards the direction of myself and other customers. I notice he suddenly had either cheese sticks, banana Foster's cheesecake bites or fish sticks - some breaded food item in his hand that he put near or on his MOUTH (whether he licked or breathed over the item I can't exactly tell but it was level to his mouth), in which he hesitated in his movement towards going into the left part of the kitchen when he realized that he was still partially visible to the sight of us in the dining area. From the lobby's perspective he moved into a discrete location to the left part of the kitchen out of view for a few moments, reemerged and DROPPED the same breaded objects into the DEEP FRYER.
At this point the conductivity here at this particular Captain D's establishment is...
Read moreThis was absolutely one of the best visits I have had to this location of Captain D's. The gentleman who prepared my food also checked the sweet tea and changed it out for me, because the urn in the dining room area was like sugar water. He also packed my food after checking it again to make sure it was all correct. He then got every sauce I had asked for and even made sure I had napkins to take home for my family. Outstanding customer service! But, it did not end there, he also walked me to my car and put my bags inside as well. I have never received service like this before at this location. I wish I had gotten his name bc he definitely deserves to be thanked in this review. I shook his hand and told him how appreciated his help was to me. He had a smile on his face the entire time, did not seem bothered that he was doing all of these jobs. He just did them. I will be returning to this location bc he changed my perception of the service here after a very horrible experience a few months before. It seems as though they have truly hired people who understand that all it takes is treating another human being as you would want to be treated and your business will grow. Thank you, I appreciate you and your hard work, your attitude and attention to detail were amazing and your smile was beautiful. You were wearing a neon green tshirt and had blue ear phones around your neck. Thank...
Read moreI’m not one to usually take the time to give feedback... but today, I felt compelled to. I usually frequent the drive thru but decided to go in today bc the weather is nice... behind me came a sweet, elderly woman (#29) A precious young woman from the kitchen came out from around the counter and asked if she wanted her “usual”. She knew her... that was sweet... then she asked why she got out and came in when her usual was the drive thru... she was extremely gentle with this woman, a kindness we rarely see these days! I could tell it made her heart smile. And it did mine as well. Little acts of kindness can go miles. Then... after that a gentleman (#30) (with what was a clear speech impediment and learning disability) began to order... it wasn’t ideal for anyone to try to navigate through... but this young lady was extremely calm, patient and again, kind. It’s moments like this that people never get credit for. The food is the food, and yes it’s good. But I care more to recognize the people who don’t get enough credit. These ladies are making changes in the world. They don’t even know it. I hope these ladies are recognized for their genuine kindness. It’s few and far between that this happens. If nothing more than hearing my gratitude- hats off to you lovely women! The world needs more...
