Is your rice reused?
My husband came to pick up the food that we ordered and he came home with the wrong order. I called the restaurant and they asked me if the order was for Michelle. I said no it was under Reem but Michael picked up the order. My husband explained that they asked him whose name the order was under and he said either Reem or Michael. I can understand how there could be some confusion here as Michael and Michelle are similar names so I wasn’t upset. I told them I would come pick up our order. It took me awhile to get there because it was snowing and freezing outside. I also could not find parking. Finally I called and asked if they would meet me at the door so I can quickly grab our order and get back home. Hesitantly the manager said yes and followed up by asking me if I brought the other order with me. I told him no I didn’t think I needed to or should have because we had already opened the package so they were going to have to throw it out anyway. The man insisted that I should have brought the food back with me and said I would have to pay for it. I refused and said this makes no sense. It isn’t my fault we were given the wrong order. He said well your husband should have been more careful. I told him that they should have been more careful as well and that the order wasn’t even under is name it was under my name. He was very aggressive and beyond that he was still insisting on us bringing the food back and/or paying for it. Obviously, this is an absolute disgusting thought. Where they going to reuse this food? He said well we have to make money. There were two items in the order vs. the 6 items in our order. I said if this is the case cancel my order and we will keep the one we have at the house and request a refund from postmates. He said no no I will make an exception this time. Come pick up the food. Does this restaurant reuse uneaten food? This goes beyond sanitation and ethics. We are in a pandemic and they wanted food that left their restaurant to be brought back. Needless to say we will never be going back there again. I hope that they clean up their act because their food is pretty good but their service and sanitary conditions...
Read moreIt pains me to write this as Touch of India used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Michigan. I gave it 5 stars over and over and recommended it to everyone I knew. The last time that I ordered, my normal items just did not taste right. I chalked it up to being an off day for the kitchen. Today I tried again and everything was basically inedible. I had to throw away almost $40 worth of food that normally would have lasted me for multiple meals. The Chicken Makhani used to be the absolute best, so flavorful, not bland like a normal "butter chicken". Today, all it tasted like was sweet butter. There was no spice, there were no flavors, it tasted like eating saucy sweet lard. The garlic naan normally comes with a nice char, a little crispy. This one was thick dough, no crisp, chewy, the garlic was not even browned on top. Was more comparable to a frozen dinner flatbread pizza. The veggie samosas were also almost inedible. They used to be thin crispy shells stuffed with potatoes, peas, and spices. Today the shell was thick, chewy, doughy and they were stuffed with flavorless green beans, carrots, and peas, and corn. I had to smother everything completely in the green chutney sauce, which in itself was way more bland than normal today, it usually brings the heat and has a ton of flavor. Even the rice is usually so flavorful, today, bland. I did call and ask if there was a change in ownership or recipes. the gentleman told me that there had been a change in ownership a few months ago but that the recipes shouldn't be much changed, even though there was only one of the same employees. He also stated the head chef had called in sick today. Since the normal chef was sick today, I will give my old favorite place one last try to see if they still prepare the same amazing recipes I have loved for the past 10 years or if this new ownership tanked the place. Will update my review based on my...
Read moreI've been going to this place for years off and on. It's a nice departure from all the Birmingham restaurants that look different, but in actuality share at least 80% of the same menu selection. I do enjoy eating here, however don't expect the exotic. IMHO, their food is tailored toward western taste, think TexMex like. By no means is that a bad thing. I think its a decent compromise. I will say, this is probably the spiciest eatery in the whole of Birmingham. The atmosphere is clean, slightly cramped, and it radiates an authentic restaurant you'd find in any major Indian city; It feels dated in comparison with other B'ham eateries. The service has always been friendly and direct for us. i do recommend this place. ...
