THE ABSOLUTE BEST Greek salad with grilled chicken I have had in a while and worth every penny! I ordered the large size for around $13 because that is the price I usually pay for a large size at other restaurants, and it's usually large but not LARGE. This salad was the latter and full of fresh ingredients and a massive amount of chicken that I am glad I ordered on the side because I had so much left to make a throw together chicken pita the next day for lunch with it and the leftover pita bread. I got ranch dressing instead of greek... I know, but I haven't found a greek dressing that I am not allergic to or have an allergic reaction, so it is the price I pay. It was still great because they have that good restaurant ranch that you can't seem to find on the shelves! Went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was super crowded, so the service was a little slow, but given the number of people there were in the building vs. servers, it was understandable. Everyone was still friendly as they could be. The place was clean, and as I said, the food was great and well worth the price. I will definitely be going back to try some of the other things on their menu! Check out Greek Islands Birmingham when you're in the area!

With almost 3 decades established in the heart of Birmingham, John one of the owners has seen all the celebrities come through. His traditional greek flare to his food makes it a come and grab or relax and dine type of place. My favs are the veggie omelette with goat cheese and the spinach pie dinner. Prices are inexpensive, dishes are simple and the food quality is always consistently good. This is a place I always come to when I am in Birmingham photographing attorneys and investment advisors. I had this opportunity to photograph some of his dishes for Doordash and it's so nice to hear that he still has pride serving up these dishes after almost 30 years! I highly recommend.

Usually I am not a fan of coney island food, but the breakfast here is out of this world!!! I ordered bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and the hash browns. Extremely tasty!! The portions are large for the prices, the atmosphere is very clean and more upscale than your average diner, and our server was very polite and attentive.

If you’re ever in the mood for a culinary experience that feels like a warm hug from a hot dog, then look no further than Greek Islands This place is the kind of joint that makes you question your life choices while simultaneously reaffirming them with every bite of chili cheese fries.

First off, let’s talk about the decor. It’s a charming mix of modern and “I found this booth on Craigslist” chic. The walls are adorned with pictures of happy families, likely after they’ve consumed enough coney dogs to fuel a small rocket. You might even spot a few local celebrities—well, at least their autographed napkins.

Now, the menu—oh boy! It’s like a love letter to the American diet. The coney dogs are so good, you’ll want to propose. Just don’t forget to add the chili, onions, and a mountain of nacho cheese—because who doesn’t want their arteries to sing?! The fries? Let’s just say they should come with a warning label: “May cause uncontrollable happiness and a lifelong obsession.”

And the service? It’s like being served by your favorite aunt who’s had one too many cups of coffee. They’re friendly, a little chaotic, and will definitely ask if you’re “really ready for that third coney.” Spoiler alert: you are.

As you sit there, devouring your meal, you can't help but notice the symphony of sounds around you: the sizzling of the grill, the laughter of kids, and that one guy who’s definitely overdoing it on the hot sauce.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a place where the food is as comforting as a warm blanket and the atmosphere is a delightful mix of chaos and thank god I am here, Greek Islands is your spot. Just remember to leave your dignity at the door—and maybe wear stretchy pants. You’ll...

The good: very convenient for parking; clean, bright and welcoming interior, nice-looking menu. The "small" chicken salad was actually quite a good size.

The not so great: service wasn't great--a little slow to get the food, and waiter never checked back after delivering food. Prices on the high side; chicken salad contained plenty of chicken, but underneath lay a lot of tasteless iceberg lettuce and not much else, and the meat was kinda bland (might have benefited from a bit more seasoning and a little more time on the grill before cutting/serving?). The omelette was a little dry and over-done, and the hash browns that I'd asked to have "well done" were indeed brown, but came as a very firm rectangular 'block' (not loose). Fries on the side were a little underdone and not especially hot.

The bad: Instead of ordering a Greek omelette and just omitting a few things and adding avocado ($2 more), I foolishly ordered my omelette with spinach, tomato, cheese and avocado, which came up to $16.50 -- seemed very steep considering.

Overall: Poor value for money, not impressed and won't be going back. A shame really, because it's convenient for parking and shopping...
