Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Bishop

I haven't been to another Jack-In-The-Box in years, just because of where I live and we don't eat a lot of fast food. I like this particular JITB and prefer to stop here rather than other fast food places in town. Why? First, there is almost always a handi-capable person on duty. Seriously. I really like that many of these employees work the drive-thru and interact with the public so well. I like that they are employed and empowered, and that the public can see that they are just people doing a job, and doing it well despite a handicap. Secondly, I like that this JITB embraces technology. Inside, you can order from a kiosk or at the counter. They also have that wonderful Coke machine! You know, the one that offers just about ever Coke product. You can even blend flavors or find a recipe in the Coca-Cola app. Maybe I am easily impressed, but being able to get a diet-Barq's Root beer or Cream Soda on tap...

Usually ok. Today. Sunday May 1st. Disgusting. Robert which was the only name tag I noticed. Robert was at one point doing the front register. No gloves. Takes customers cash. Hands customer cash. Then turns around and starts touching fries and other things without washing his hands. Him and the older man also doing the front register. Constantly grabbing at their masks. Scratching face. Scratching heads. And not washing their hands! If I had seen this before I ordered. I would have left. People were having to clean their own tables to have a place to sit. Took 15 minutes to get our order. And still wasn’t right. And it was cold! I understand being busy. But that’s just nasty! And the restrooms are filthy. Nasty. Their Sourdough Jack is the best, most consistently made burger of the fast food places in town. It's everything I remember from forty years ago-consistent taste, quality and adherence to the menu. Never soggy, always filling. They are the only ones who actually get the Junior burger order for my dogs correct—just bun with meat—no pickles, mustard or dressing. We never "dine-in" so can't really rate the atmosphere. The cordial, hard-working staff always get our order right, though I still check it before I leave.
