Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Bismarck

I don’t normally leave reviews like this, however I just had the most frustrating experience at the north Applebee's in Bismarck. My girlfriend and I went to grab dinner, we got there and were seated very quickly, but from that point on things went very downhill. It took seemingly a while for our server to come to the table, I won’t try and estimate because I don’t want to be incorrect but it felt longer than it should have. When she finally came to the table we were fully ready to order, we got an app drinks and entrées. The appetizer was the first thing to come out, we had finished nearly the entire appetizer before even getting our drinks, the drinks weren’t brought out by our original server, rather they were brought by someone else who was apologetic about the wait and said she hadn’t gotten the ticket for the drinks. When the food finally came out after nearly 45min the food I had gotten was not as advertised. i’ve gotten the dish before, and it had bite-size cuts of bell peppers and onions mixed in with the pasta. However, when I got my plate this time there were large pieces of peppers that had not been cored all the way through. Meaning the white ISH inner sections were still very visible and they were whole slices about an inch wide completely uncooked, and there were no onions whatsoever in the dish. After a few minutes of trying to flag down our server, she finally came back and I politely asked if I could get it remade just because I had had it before, and this was very different from the first version of the dish that I had. She said that it was no problem and that they would have it remade and so when she took it back to the kitchen, we sat there for another 15 or so minutes at this point we had been here for well over an hour and had somewhere else to go. so when the remade dish came out, I asked if we could get it boxed up in a to go box because we needed to be somewhere, our server left and came back with the boxes set them down on the table set the check down and said “here you are” and then walked away. Had an absolute terrible experience here yesterday. The restaurant was filthy despite being quiet. The table we were seated had an unknown liquid under the floor and food everywhere. It was disgusting. We moved ourselves to an adjacent booth (but it still stuck all over in it). We mentioned it to the hostess and she just shrugged it off noting they spilled water there (but obviously didn’t care to actually clean it) and then seated another group there 10 minutes later.

Our entire family ordered burgers. My wife got a mushroom Swiss and I got a bourbon bacon burger. A few of us also got drinks. After dropping off our drinks we never saw the waitress again until we got our tab because the manager ended up having to bring our food.

If it weren’t for the manager none of us would have gotten a refill but the worst was the food. And it took such a long time for the food that the manager comped it (without us asking - obviously she must have realized how long we waited).

My burger was charbroiled. The bacon was hard crumbled bits and it didn’t come with any sauce. My wife’s was the same. The manager had to bring us all the sauces the burgers were supposed to come with.

We quickly ate our food. The manager gave us a desert but honestly I just wanted to leave. That restaurant needs a serious deep clean. It is awful inside.

The tab came out to $55 plus tip even after my wife’s burger was comped and the manager discounted everything (no discount could have saved the food - I’ve had better burgers at fast food restaurants). When I was trying to use my giftcard on their kiosk and couldn’t get it to work, the waitress pressed the tip button to tip herself - giving herself a $15 tip. As absent as that waitress was, she didn’t deserve $1.

It’s disappointing that I used my $50 gift card on such a terrible meal and experience. Someone should shut this place down and give it a deep clean and take the time to teach the kitchen how to make something simple like a burger and teach the waiters how to actually wait on tables.

I will never, EVER come back to this location again. If I could give this review -5 stars I would. But hopefully my experience can help others avoid...

I loved my experience at Applebees tonight. The food was great. I had the Zesty Chicken Sandwich with fries and a side of ranch. My nephew had some chicken strips and his girlfriend had the riblets. The baby had some mozzarella sticks and some fries. SHE IS SO FRICKEN CUTE. I held her and laughed with her. It was phenomenal. It is so nice to feel like a human being and to interact with other life forms. I have been living somewhere between Hades and the bottom of the most rank and filthy sewer system which caused me to deteriate to what could legally be called insane. My life was saved by a God who never gave up on me. My soul and heart receive healing when I have nights like tonight. I have always felt less than or not good enough, but tonight I felt loved, and for that I am grateful. Our waitresses name was Brittney and was really nice. Her nametag said McKenzie which I thought was weird and suspicious. There were beautiful people all over in there and I felt like I had seen them before. Maybe I had, I'm not sure, but what I do know is that it was absolutely perfect. So, Lord I pray for all the people and their families that you continue to pursue and protect them like you have with me. Ok, I'll shut the trap for now as I am going to a jamboree tomorrow.
