I meet with Paul Lorenzano at Stonehome who showed me a loft area to use for my deceased husband’s funeral reception. Paul showed me the space; we planned the table layout and discussed the catered food options. I was informed by Paul that tablecloths, plates, drinkware would all be provided and not to worry. Later in the week, we called to confirm the catered food order. Paul said due to it being a busy time that they could no longer keep my reservation on the loft and we were being moved to the entryway lobby area. I was still informed everything would be provided and our food order was submitted. I came to Stonehome a second time to look at the entryway and make sure it would work for our 30-50 guests. I also had invitations made and sent out for our celebration of life party. I was told by Paul that moving our party was all they could do so they would not lose money during their busy timeframe. I was not called and notified of this move. I found out while confirming the food order. Invites had already been sent out so we agreed on having tables set up and decorated in the entryway of Stonehome. On the day of the event our party started at 4:30pm. We arrived, as well as guests and friends with balloons and flower bouquets for the amount of tables Paul agreed to have set up for us. OUR PARTY WAS TURNED AWAY! We were informed as guests were arriving to grieve that a wedding party was moved into our space from the roof due to the weather. We were yelled at by Kim Bahm the general manager. When I asked Kim why I was not called and given any notice as guests were arriving she stated, “you don’t understand how busy we are no one had time to call you”. Even an hour notice would have been the LEAST amount of effort to find a spot for 30-50 guests for a funeral party. As guests continued to arrive the Mother of my deceased husband stood outside the front doors with a sign and tears in her eyes redirecting all of our grieving guests to standby while we scramble to find any place in Bismarck on ZERO notice for 50 guests currently arriving. My children sat crying in the parking lot wondering why their deceased father’s party had been cancelled. The lack of EMPATHY and greed of Stonehome Brewing CO. was front and center. It was absolutely disgusting to work with such unethical people in our community. A phone call is all that it would have taken to inform guests and relocate our party. One phone call. Instead, Kim Bahm and Stonehome made no effort to inform a grieving widow that unexpectedly lost her husband to simply find...
Read moreThe parking lot is large and open, leading to the bank. Entry being through a bank is a bit bizarre and immediately strikes you as wrong, still, in through the bank doors and hang a left. From there, the decor is set up in the industrial style.
We ordered pork belly tacos, rusty tractor pizza with $1 upgraded pretzel crust & 2 house brew beers. Both beers were stouts, the milk stout being my personal favorite of the 2, though both were very solid (especially for $4!). The pork belly tacos were well-balances with tart apples & jalapeños atop of juicy, sweet & savory pork belly. I appreciated the use of thin thices to keep the "shell" from getting soggy. As for the pizza, which I ate crust to middle, that first salty bite had me worried. Thankfully, we're talking salted rim only. The pretzel crust worked well, with the correct pretzel consistency- chewy, but not doughy. The figs were a pleasant flavor surprise. It just plain worked.
Since we opted for bar seating, we seated ourselves. The barkeep was efficient. I'm not sure I'd say friendly, though he was never rude either - he just seemed detached. We weren't looking to make friends, so it's ok with us, still, I can see how others perceived negatively. Other staff went about their business and they didn't appear to interact with each other either. It gave off a bit of an odd vibe that is hard to describe. I believe there were more staff than patrons at that time of day, which may have contributed to the awkwardness.
We came specifically to try some of the brews & I'm delighted to see that they listened to reviews & added happy hour pricing of $4 house brews. That is a bargain compared to every other stop we made. At $39 for 2 with app, pizza...
Read moreI’m not the person to complain as I have served all over Bismarck for 20+ years so I understand the struggle, but last night was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. I could go on for a really long time talking about the details of what went on at this restaurant last night, but I won’t because they really don’t deserve any more of my time. We came there for my best friends birthday and after our experience she left in tears. I have to give props to our server because even though the night was going up in flames she kept a smile and was always friendly when she was at our table and that made a huge difference. After everything was done we FINALLY received our checks to leave and I wrote a very unhappy note on my ticket so the very unprofessional management would know we were NEVER coming back. I wake up this morning to find out the same female manager that was working last night TOOK A PHOTO OF MY TICKET WITH MY PERSONAL INFORMATION and put it out for the world to see. I’m QUITE sure that’s illegal... really goes to show what kind of business they are running there. Would not recommend this location to anyone. If the OWNER would like to know the details of the night and why 15 people left so unhappy with the management and staff that we will never be back, he/she can contact me at anytime. I would like to offer insight so this NEVER has to happen to...
