Grill'd — Restaurant in Bixby

A proper smashed hamburger patty, done right, has more flavor than a regular grilled hamburger patty. Smashed to drive in the heat from the grill and for more surface area to capture that flavorful crispy caramelized coating that forms on the thin patty. Want to double that delicious flavor; make it with two patties. There you have the secret of the GRILL’D burger; flavor. GRILL’D, now my choice for the best burger in Bixby, and anywhere on Memorial Drive. For argument’s sake I would also recognize it as a challenger for the best classic version of a burger in Tulsa. Tulsa has many of those Mediterranean/Burger hybrid joints. GRILL’D beats all of them on burgers.

Now let’s take that perfect burger and make it the best combo meal possible. Add and order of GRILL’D Style French fries. That delicious sprinkling of sumac on the crisp coated fries, puts that basket of food over the top. I was surprised and pleased with this tasty meal.

My wife went healthy with a rice bowl. A bowl of rice, Mediterranean salad vegetables, falafels (aka Mediterranean style Hush Puppies) and excellent tzatziki on the side to dip or drizzle as you see fit. The falafels were excellent. Crispy, flavorful, plenty of parsley mixed with the chick peas. Her only comment, other than the falafels were some of the best she has had, “I wish I could get the meal just as a big Mediterranean salad without the rice.”

The restaurant is clean with many tables. There is a drive through. Inside order at the counter and pick your food up at the counter. Being right there on one of the busiest streets in Tulsa, GRILL’D has a steady flow of customers. The restaurant was busy this afternoon and shorthanded on staff. My reviews are always honest and I try to be up front. The business is new and as such has some growing pains as normal. Clean dining area, drive thru didn't work and no sign indicating the intercom was broken. We were left setting for ten minutes without anyone talking through the speaker. When we pulled up to the window not one employee was in sight and again no sign indicating they weren't using the drive thru. Went inside to order and found the cook who was doing his job with three front counter employees standing around him discussing Facebook laughing and having a good time instead of paying attention to the front of the restaurant. Was informed they knew the drive thru intercom didn't work and a technician had been scheduled. So why no sign saying broken come inside?

Food, first off this is Smash Burger with a different name as far as the burgers go. Our burgers had so much mustard and onions on them you literally couldn't taste the meat. Honestly not just my opinion but my lunch companions. Fries were good, and the soda fountain was broken so we got bottles instead. They may get better but right now for what you pay and what you get there are better options around. My first suggestion would be to get your wait staff out of the kitchen and to the front of the store. Even when waiting on my order never had one employee out front.
