Melina's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Blackfoot

Don't live in Blackfoot anymore... Saw Melina's had moved...thought we'd try them for lunch...I ordered beef enchiladas.. my wife ordered chicken chimicanga... chips and salsa was nice... wife lived it I thought it tasted like thick tomato sauce... tasted like tomatoes...I couldn't taste any "spice" at all.... added salt and pepper... that kinda helped... my wife loved it(she doesn't usually enjoy Mexican food) enchiladas we're expensive...just fried burger with some sauce and cheese... tortillas were straight out of the bag... stiff and chewy... could have been steamed or heated.. cheese was strange...I think it's Colby and mozzarella...looked hand shredded...not bagged shredded... Kinda stringy chewy... enchiladas were warm... sauce hot(temp).. nothing browned...liked texture of sauce..roux based...not flavor so much.. whole meal lacked something... my wife liked her food.. It was ok...I got a taste... also bland... dropped leftovers to our son at work for a snack... he called and asked where we got it...I asked him why... did you like it?... he said "no...I just wanted to make sure I didn't go there".... had his coworkers try the chips and salsa... they didn't care for the salsa either... prices are high... very high...2 stars cuz my wife liked the salsa.... everything else was found lacking... and I love Mexican food..... Melinas won't be first on my list... can't say my wife won't be back for chips and salsa if nothing else...

UPDATE....now 1 star...my wife went back today with her sister...A SCOOP OF RICE WAS $6....for a scoop of rice...cost them less than a quarter...ridiculous...sorry you didn't meet our...

Very upset I get off work late so I had my BF go pick up our order with my card to pay before they closed, he went in card wasn’t working then he went back to try again and the second time I guess some lady walked in to get her order of food and walked out without paying and because she did that the employee asked my bf to leave his drivers license sense they thought he wasn’t going to come back for our order and not pay? 1. I’m sorry that lady didn’t pay for her order but not my fault or problem 2. I have funds on my card and I don’t think he should have been treated any differently just because of one horrible costumer 3. I love Melina’s and there food and I appreciate every hard worker and know they made our food so it would be wrong to not pay for service so either there card machine is acting up but either way we tried 3 different cards ? And still got treated with ugly employee disrespect? I’m a good buying costumer every time . For the disrespect we got from the manager and still paid $60 dollars is beyond me, she was rude and quick to judge said (Honey if you can’t afford to eat out then maybe you shouldn’t) I was pregnant working just got off work what kind of employee says that and because me and my bf complained to her and the owner of her horrible unprofessional attitude she called the cops on us which is something I didn’t know you could do if there was no crime committed we were being normal paying customers complaining about horrible service I loved Melina’s but if that lady continues to work...

TLDR: Avoid Melina's - It is the worst "Mexican" restaurant ever... If you can even call it a Mexican restaurant.

We haven't been to Melina's in years. It was one of my family's favorites for as long as I can remember, and for a good reason. Everything about this place was fantastic! We were in town and decided to go back. Something changed... Everything changed!

This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have even been to. The food was bland and boring. Everything tested like it came from an expired can from a discount grocer. The prices would only be reasonable if the food wasn't so awful. The service wasn't great, but our server sure thought she did a great job. She added a 20% gratuity to everyone's bill and disguised this on the check, writing "grat" over some blue ink on the check so it couldn't be read easily. The menu states that 15% will be added for parties of 5 or more... not 20%. A party of 5 is a typical family.. but I guess they can't handle it. When paying, there's another line for a tip which helps them rip people off even more if they don't realize that they were already scammed by the wait staff.

I support local businesses that are legitimate and good. I rarely leave reviews but want to warn anyone and everyone that even considers eating at this place. AVOID MELINAS! You'll absolutely regret dining here. If you moved away from Blackfoot like I did, know that it's not the same place...
