We had a wonderful dinner at the Chess Club Steakhouse in Blanco, Tx. Our group of 7 ate dinner here last week and had a great experience. We were determined to “try everything” and we came pretty close to succeeding. The appetizers were all excellent, all completely devoured, and we would order any of them again! The fresh bread brought to our table was warm and delicious. We tried the Caesar and the Wedge salads and they were each great and huge - very shareable. The pistachio crusted sea bass and the tuna steak, with sweet Thai chili sauce, were fantastic. The peppered 16oz ribeye was not only huge, but unbelievably flavorful. Two of us split it and it was more than enough. The pork chops were very flavorful and tender. The surf and turf was just perfect. As for the sides, the au gratin potatoes, jalapeño Mac and cheese, and creamed Spinach were all big hits. The wine list was very nicely compiled, covering the range of wines matching the food and even offering a Port for after dinner. All of the desserts were wonderful, but the two absolute standouts were the bread pudding with rum sauce and the praline cheesecake - with the chocolate cake in close competition. We had a fantastic evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The service was great with no “attitude” and the prices were unbelievably reasonable for the quality and amount of food we were served. Everyone was amazed at what a great place we had “discovered.” This Steakhouse is an...

Blanco has always had a small-town charm, and one of my favorite spots over the years has been this restaurant. Now rebranded as The Chess Club Steakhouse, they’ve taken things to the next level while keeping the heart and soul of what makes this place special.
The menu is elevated, offering high-quality steaks that rival big-city steakhouses, but with the warmth and hospitality that only a small town can provide. The same friendly faces that have been running the place for over a decade are still here, making every visit feel like coming home.
While change isn’t always easy in a small town, I personally love the new direction. It brings something fresh to Blanco while maintaining the welcoming atmosphere we’ve always enjoyed. If you’re looking for a fantastic steak and a great dining experience, The Chess Club Steakhouse is absolutely...
Read moreWe have been fans of Chess Club since we discovered it 3 years ago. Recently, they made the shift from serving Breakfast/Lunch to being really nice steakhouse. We celebrated our anniversary with the Chess Club this year and it did not disappoint. The filet and prime rib were cooked perfectly. The shrimp were huge and perfectly seasoned. My husband started with the French onion soup and I had the wedge salad. Both were hits! We took a slice of chocolate cake to go and I’m sure we will also love it as soon as we are hungry again! Their wine selection included local wineries and they also serve beer, including the local Real Ale options. The service was exceptional and they made us feel really special with a decorated table and sweet card from the staff for our anniversary. We will be...
