I don’t often write reviews, but was so impressed with our experience here last night, I felt compelled to let others know! This was our first time at Roadside B&G.
I called earlier in the day to try to get a reservation at 7:30 for 6 people. They said they could only do 8pm, but would call me if anyone cancelled. I ended up calling back around 6pm and they said they would move things around so that they could get us in at either 7:15 or 7:45. While at my son’s soccer game we saw another family of 3 who wanted to join us. I hesitantly called back and the hostesses who were so accommodating said they would see what they could do. They got us in at 7:45 for 9 people!
We arrived around 7:20, went up to the bar to get drinks, and spoke to 2 very friendly bartenders. Drinks were great and quick! The hostess, Lindsay I think was her name, was so polite and kept coming up to me to give me updates on the status of our table. We were somehow seated promptly at 7:45 (which was shocking because the place was packed!).
We were served drinks right away by our waitress, Stephanie who was so prompt, friendly, and accommodating all evening. Ordered the calamari and 2 orders of the short rib tacos which were great. The bread (or biscuits) were amazing and we don’t typically eat the bread at restaurants, but this was worth it! We were with friends who had eaten there before and said the specials were typically great. Last night was a shrimp fettuccine and a honey mustard char dish.
My husband and I like to share our dishes, so Stephanie said it was no problem to split both specials and put them on our own separate plates! Two of the couples did that and both specials were phenomenal! I was shocked that all of our meals came out hot, pasta and shrimp were cooked absolutely perfect. One of the best meals we have had out in a long time. All 9 of us had appetizers, drinks, and ate, and were finished by 9pm! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will...
Read moreThe service was definetly worth the 5 star review alone! Starting with the hostess finding a place for us to squeeze in during a busy night, then receiving the best service I've recieved since camel riders in the U.P. our waitress was perfectly timed with our drink and appetizer order, then as a solution to not having a chilled glass she without prompting problem solved and improvised filling a glass with ice until lightly chilled then wiped out the glass as to not contaminate the lagavulin 16 year we ordered, she then soon after brought out a chilled glass that's she had taken the time to put in the deep freezer herself and she did so 2 more times through the meal... Excellent service! Our appetizers came out wonderfully plated and were both to taste, Entrees (both specials) came out cooked perfectly and in a timely manner, the additional entree ordered to go arrived perfectly as we were finishing dessert and after dinner drinks, if you are contemplating trying this place or even just returning let this be a reminder that the wonderful staff at roadside B&G will take...
Read moreMy birthday dinner the other night turned into a total disaster. My husband MJ, who's spent over 30 years behind the bar himself, took me out to celebrate. We grabbed two seats at the end of the bar where there were a few empty stools. MJ casually slid one over to give us a bit of breathing room - you know, just trying to get comfortable. Out of nowhere, the bartender practically yelled at him in front of everyone: "Sir, put that back right now - I'm not going to lose a customer sitting at my bar."
I was mortified. MJ quietly moved it back without making a scene, but the damage was done. The whole vibe was shot. To make matters worse, I found out they'd taken my favorite dish off the menu - the whole reason we'd picked this place. We couldn't even finish our Pellegrino before deciding to leave.
When I asked to speak with a manager about how we were treated, their brilliant solution was to offer us a free meal. Like that would somehow make up for being humiliated in front of the whole bar? Thanks, but no thanks.
Needless to say, they've lost our...
