Spent $40 on a two meat plate and loaded fries. I got pulled pork and hot sausage with Mac and cheese and green beans all just bland the fries had chicken and cheese nothing and we’re better than the plate. The portions were tiny (see picture). The most bland bbq I’ve had but the tangy bbq sauce was tasty. The smell was amazing! The younger boy working the register seemed very unhappy/annoyed to be there but it was really busy being the Saturday before Father’s Day. The corn muffin was very similar to a vanilla cupcake without icing. Overall disappointing in flavor and cost so I won’t eat here again.
Edited to add response to businesses reply:
I agree that the sausage had the most flavor of everything I ordered (except the tangy bbq sauce that was really good). I also agree with other reviews that some may find this to be the best bbq in town because we don’t have any other bbq places in town. I was more disappointed by the small portion sizes of everything else more than the fries but I can understand the portion of fries being mixed given how busy it was, it happens. I did receive my sodas after reminding the cashier which was no problem. I’m happy I tried Annie eats but it’s just not for me. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my review and offering to correct the fries I value that level of customer service and have adjusted my review of the service to 4 stars due to...
Read moreWe were in town for a sporting event and did not want to eat at a common restaurant chain. I found this place online and after seeing pictures of their food and reading many reviews of this restaurant, decided to give it a try. And when I tell you the food was delicious, it was delicious! We were greeted coming in by the owner who was very kind and welcoming. The smell of BBQ cooking was in the air outside. I got the brisket meal with baked beans, potato salad, corn muffin. My husband got rib tip meal with baked macaroni & cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. My daughter got pulled pork sandwich with home-cut fries. We also got a piece of carrot cake. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. The meats were moist, well seasoned, and the smoky taste was just right. Mind you we got BBQ sauce on the side because if the meat is delicious without sauce, you got yourself some good meat. And it was. We got a variety of homemade BBQ sauce that were very good. The bean were the best I’ve had with pieces of pork meat in them. Lastly, the carrot cake was amazing. I could tell that the icing was homemade. The cake, man that cake. If I lived anywhere near this spot, I’d be a regular customer. I know good food and this is it. Go check them out. You could see the cooks through the counter and they were all friendly and just great vibes were given off. You won’t be...
Read moreGreat food and fantastic service. Chatted at the pitmasters when first came in and as we left after eating at a picnic table outside. Owner was there taking care of lunch for his employees with food from somewhere else. Nice touch and was a super nice and BBQ chatty owner. :)
The Brisket was very well smoked if a bit salty but I am fine with that. I thought it was brined first but was assured it was not. The chicken, pulled pork and ribs were all great as well with good smoke. The spicy sausage was really good. Too much for my wife but not insane to me but a very nice spice bite.
We got the green beans, baked beans and coleslaw as sides. The green beans were OK, nothing special to me. The baked beans were interesting. At first you get a "oh, this is a savory bean" and then the sweet comes in and it is an interesting play that finishes with a bit of heat on the back end but nothing crazy at all. With the slaw, if you like KFC's, you will like the flavor. This is a MUCH finer shred but the flavor is very similar.
Overall, great BBQ joint. Seating is just a couple picnic tables outside but that was enough for us even on a cool day. We live in Peoria but my wife will be coming to Bloomington monthly for quilting fabric and I can see this being the lunch stop...
