Maguire's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bloomington

I genuinely liked this bar. I’ve been here a couple times before and it was a great, chill time. It is located in a college town, so yes, I’m sure some college students can get rowdy. But tonight, my boyfriend and I, as well as my two friends, decided to have a chill night here at the bar. You know… grab a few drinks and play some pool. Tonight the bar is fairly empty. Chill. We each grab a drink, not before getting our ID’s examined for 2 solid minutes each of course, and then proceed to order our drinks. I won’t get too into the nitty gritty, but basically, we were refused another drink due to the bar “limiting the amount of college students”. Interesting. And quite assuming too. We are young (between 22-23)… but to be discriminated against because of that? Idk. If you are a younger 21+… just go somewhere else. They will group you into a stereotype and not let you have a good time. Bar tender could use some customer service training too.. she seems to be about the same age as us....

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! Been here so many times, used to be my favorite bar. Went COMPLETELY SOBER with a few of my friends (ALL 21). A female server was serving us. She checked all five of our IDs, threatening to refuse service to two of us. All she said was she “didn’t like their IDs”. We asked why and she gave us our drinks without telling us the reason why she almost denied us. After playing a couple rounds of darts, being very respectful, not drunk or loud, my friend and I went up to get another drink. After both of us ordering she responded that she was going to close us out. This was at 10:00 pm, when the bar closes at 1:00 am. After being asked by another one of us, she simply said that she would only serve us one drink and that she was done. I’ve only lived in town for a shorter period of time; I’ve never had a bad experience at this place so I invited a group of friends here. We had a different, older bartender. He was extremely disrespectful to my friends. I’ve never experienced this being here, but I regret going here over the other calm bars in town. He closed the bar when he felt, not bar time. He disrespected my friends, I personally would take this experience and I would not go again. He started accusing my friend of things that were not nearly relevant, he started stating blows over a group of people who hadn’t even had a drink 40 minutes prior.. his bar time ended at 12:15, which we were fine with.
