If I could give zero stars I would. I brought in my 2012 MacBook Pro because the touch pad was no longer working. When I walked up for my appointment, the agent working greeted my by saying “wow, that’s an old MacBook!!” When I told him the problem, he said that he wouldn’t touch my laptop because of the age and would be shocked if anyone would. I was confused because all of the software had been updated and my computer had been working fine until the touchpad went out. He told me that my laptop was useless without a touch pad and I might as well trash it. I responded by saying that my laptop worked fine up until the touchpad went out and everything else worked just fine. And asked if they could order a part to fix this issue. His response was “clearly it doesn’t work if you’re here”. I was so thrown off. I asked well if my laptop is out of use, do you know if there is a trade in program I could do so that I get some credit towards a new laptop? He laughed and said I would get nothing for my laptop. I took my laptop back and went directly to Normal Gadgets down the road and I’m so happy I did. All they did was order me a new touch pad and had the issue fixed in less than a week for $120. Way cheaper than buying a new Laptop and they also didn’t make fun of me nor my device in the process! They were actually NICE to me!! I will never go to geek squad again and will continue to use...
Read moreI had an appointment last night to have my phone repaired, although the advertisement shows that there is same day service option, since my appointment was at 5:40pm, I was open to the phone not being ready same day and the representative Kyle that assisted me was helpful at that time and I had been waiting for someone to contact me today since I was told that my phone would be ready in the morning. I came to Geek Squad a few minutes ago ago pick up my phone but the technician hadn’t been informed that the phone was there and had just got notified an hour ago that it was even there to be repaired. This does not fall on him since he was not the associate there last night that assisted me. There was a major lack of communication and having kids that go places I need my phone to communicate so initially what I needed to be serviced was not completed. And I had the service fee returned since I needed my phone. Mostly disappointed I was told one thing and the communication to make sure the phone was fixed properly...
Read moreA HORRIBLE experience with Geek Squad buyer's protection service contract. My XL screened TV broke, I called in to nearest Best Buy - my call was sent over seas - VERY difficult to understand rep. They set up appointment to repair my tv in~ 10 days. 10 MINUTES before they were to arrive, they sent a text to cancel, and tell me to re-schedule! I go to re-schedule, but can't. I call in (same aweful automatic overseas transfer) - told they only had ONE service provider in my area, and he was not taking jobs. (I live in a rural area 20 MINUTES NORTH OF A BEST BUY STORE). I was told Best Buy would TRY to find another provider, but no guarantees when it would be. I should keep calling in to see if a re-schedule might one day be possible at some point. Meanwhile, I cannot get a refund on my contract: They took my money for a service contract, provide no service, and keep my money I might use to hire someone who could actually come and fix my tv! I am FUMING angry. Buyer's Protection? NEVER NEVER...
