Flavia’s would definitely rate 10 stars. This pastry business is located in a tiny cottage, think She Shed, on a small side street in downtown Blowing Rock. Everything was nicely labeled and priced but there were names I hadn’t heard before. Julie was very informative and kindly answered all of our, “Ooooh, what’s that?” questions. We were torn between a couple of items, so like any sensible person, we bought both. She told us to eat them at room temperature for best enjoyment. She said the “Crème” is homemade puff pastry with a thick layer of Mousseline Cream. That means they take their crème patisserie and then add silky butter. Is your mouth watering yet? We each got a Crème and a Cream Puff. We ate the Crème first and sweet mother of all things delicious, it was otherworldly. We immediately prayed that the Puff would have the same filling. It did. When we go back next year, I’ll be getting a treat for everyday we are there.

TIP #1: Beware Donna. She was in the next store Serves You Right. She offered to take our pink pastry box. Everyone in BR is so nice, we thought she was being helpful so we could shop. Then we saw the humorous glint in her eyes! Pastry Thief! LOL! Donna and Karen told us that Julie is the daughter and her mother is from Germany. The mom makes everything in Hickory and they drive it up fresh every day. They raved about everything!

TIP #2: They are closed every Wednesday,...

Cute shop. Everything looks good. The prices are high, but Blowing Rock is a tourist area so it isn't surprising. They have two gluten free options and unfortunately they were disappointing. The macarons were way over baked. I tried the strawberry and it tastes like they use strawberry extract not real strawberries. FYI macaroons are an American cookie and it's a completely different cookie. The one's they have are French Macarons. It's an important difference. Tried the vanilla GF cake and the cake was so dry it was almost inedible. The topping was refreshing and delicious. Unfortunately, I wish I had saved the calories...

We got a lemon cheesecake, an amandine, 2 macaroons, a meringue, and an eclair. Out of this assortment, the lemon cheesecake and the macaroons were the only desserts that tasted fresh. The eclair and amandine were extremely dry and seemed like they had been sitting in the case for a few days. The macaroons were excellent, and the delicious lemon cheesecake was topped with fresh figs, blueberries, and...

Stopped here while walking around window shopping. Just stopped in this town at random as part of a road trip and stumbled into this place. The presentation of the desserts was amazing. The lady working the stand was very friendly, and we took one of the key lime pie cheesecakes to go. The cheesecake was really good.. The prices were a bit on the high side, but it was a treat on a vacation.

Well let me just start by saying, the desserts are deffinitly heavenly. The coconut cake was the best I have ever had. The oreo cheesecake was a piece of perfection lastly the puff pastry was another best I've ever had, I'm not sure who makes these desserts, I will say they are a artist thes little desserts are masterpieces.the young lady that helped use was very heplful and friendly.
