Avoid this chain like the plague if you don't want to waste your money buying food they attempt to call BBQ. I have tried several locations, several different items, and each and every time the food has been absolutely horrible. So when my office chose City for lunch today I was reluctant to order anything, even with the company picking up the tab. Against my better judgement I decided to play it safe and order a Nashville Hot chicken sandwich (surely they can't mess up putting chicken in a fryer and setting a timer) and boy was I wrong. Upon delivery I was given my sandwich, fries, and coleslaw. I opened and attempted to take a bite and could not, as in I could physically not bite through the food they called chicken, and after multiple attempts I gave up. I even tried to cut it with the knife provided and that broke immediately. On to the fries. There are stray animals I would not feed those things too as they were the soggiest and saddest attempt at fries I have ever seen. Both items seem like they might have been cooked some time this week but definitely not today. So thank you for the coleslaw I suppose as that was my only thing I got to eat for lunch. I mentioned the issue to my boss who also said his meal was terrible and the mac n cheese appeared to be cooked days ago due to the dry and crusty nature of the dish. How can a chain be so consistently terrible? The order was placed at 12:00 which typically leads to fresh, hot food. Guess we were just the lucky ones to be fed last nights food that should have been thrown out.
Before my current position, I spent 17 years, in the food industry holding several different titles, across multiple states and rarely have I seen such underperforming and inedible food being served without hesitation. I will never step foot in or order from another of these establishments again and will make sure everyone I know and come in to contact hears just how bad this place is.
Anyone in Cincinnati wanting BBQ, check out Eli's or Pig Candy. Light years better than whatever it is this...
Read moreMy nephew unbeknownst to me works at this location and I came in to support a fundraiser. The girl at the counter was kind of new and it showed; she bungled my order and my uncle's order and then had no way to fix it. The manager is the firm but fair type, and profusely apologized for everything but I openly admitted that I was tired and didn't want to wait for them to remove a tea and brisket meal she'd accidentally charged me for. He also broke down how the fundraising program works which is pretty cool; the School gets anything over what their projected profits would be. It made me a little bit happier that her charge happy moment may benefit the fundraiser.
When she said to me "at least it is discounted" I wanted to legitimately scream. WHAT?!
That didn't help ME that it was discounted. I had a set budget for what I wanted to spend on this and wasn't really in the mood for an additional meal! THANKFULLY I could swing it but still... I didn't make a fuss- it isn't my style anyway. I bottled it up and moved to the delivery area. My food was fairly good (I heard one of the meat guys in the back fussing at my nephew about using all of the meat before starting to cut a new one) but the remainder was hard and had mostly char and dry crumbly meat on it.
It wasn't empty on the inside and everyone seemed to be enjoying...
Read moreWent on a Wednesday for lunch, ordered a full slab of ribs. I was gave what appeared to be left over individual rib bones from Tuesday night. They were single cut ribs and were dried out, even when I requested they not be put on the grill. I ordered half chicken meals for my husband and grown grandson the meat was overcooked and dried out. I asked for it to be plain and it had sauce on it as well as side sauce to dip it in. Ordered 2 sides of fries for one chicken and 1 side fry for the ribs and they were double wrapped and it caused them to be very soggy. The greens I ordered were way to spicy to eat. I luckily sampled the mac n cheese and passed on it because it was way to bland. The baked beans were on the sweet side but I could eat them. The green beans were very overcooked and flat. I ordered the peach cobbler and it was mostly soggy crust. I also ordered the banana pudding and it had bad bananas and was way to sweet to eat. I was very disappointed in the attitude of most of the staff as well, when I asked to try the mac n cheese the man who was taking my order acted like it was a terrible inconvenience for him and asked someone else to go get it. This was lunch for 3 people and cost almost $60. If I would have known how bad the quality of food was I would have saved my money for a good meal at...
