Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream 😎😀🙌...
Special thanks to Ashlyn for making our dining experience at Southern Charm Restaurant in Blue Ridge, Georgia truly delightful. From the moment we stepped in, Ashlyn's warm welcome and attentive service set the stage for a memorable evening. It was a party of three of us, and we were particularly excited to try their Philly Steak and Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream. Let me start by saying that both dishes exceeded our expectations.
Now, let's talk about their Philly Steak. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of this classic sandwich, I have to say that Southern Charm's version is simply outstanding. The thinly sliced ribeye steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with just the right amount of char. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, with the savory meat complemented by a medley of sautéed onions, bell peppers, and melted cheese. The roll it was served on was fresh and soft, providing the perfect vessel for this delectable creation. Each bite was a burst of flavors that left us craving for more. If you're a fan of Philly Steak, this is a must-try dish at Southern Charm Restaurant.
Now, onto the Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream. As soon as the warm aroma of baked peaches and cinnamon wafted towards our table, we knew we were in for a treat. The Peach Cobbler arrived piping hot, with a golden-brown crust that was both buttery and flaky. The peaches inside were tender and juicy, perfectly sweetened and infused with just the right amount of spice. The contrast between the warm cobbler and the cool, velvety scoop of vanilla ice cream was simply divine. It was the ideal balance of textures and temperatures, creating a truly indulgent dessert experience. The Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream at Southern Charm is the epitome of Southern comfort food done right.
Overall, our dining experience at Southern Charm Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. The Philly Steak was a mouthwatering delight, and the Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream was a heavenly conclusion to our meal. The friendly and attentive service provided by Ashlyn added an extra touch of hospitality that made us feel truly welcomed. Read moreFor the good - the biscuits were perfectly flaky and delicious and the apple butter was absolutely incredible. We bought a couple of jars before leaving. We normally don't eat apple butter, but theirs is delicious. It's baked & served warm. The wait staff was also very sweet. For the decent: the hamburger steak my husband got was okay & my sister-in-law's country fried steak was ok. (She said it tasted just like the steak on a Jack's steak biscuit.) The okra was fine - tasted like regular frozen okra that'sbeen deep fried. Kinda hard to mess that up. They both thought the fried green tomatoes were pretty decent. They're too thick in my opinion, but the breading was pretty good. Now, unfortunately, for the bad...I got the meatloaf and although I received two huge pieces, it was inedible. It just had a weird smell and taste. My sister-in-law thought it may due to green peppers, but I make mine with green peppers at home. The hashbrown casserole was really awful, too. I have had dried out hashbrown casserole & I've had it where it's not been cooked enough. This wasn't anything like that. I'm not sure what's in it, but it was bad. Not sure how potatoes & cheese can be messed up so badly, but somehow, it happened. The manager came to check on me when she heard I didn't like the meatloaf. Hard not to tell when both my husband & I took just one small bite each. She offered me anything else, but I just had an order of cream corn added to my order. I honestly wouldn't have bothered the manager because I hate being that person. I appreciated that both the waiter & manager were concerned & wanted to make everything right. We're from the south - Alabama - and we were really looking forward to some great southern meat & two/three. We all come from long lines of fantastic southern cooks so I feel we're more than capable of judging southern food. To us, this place was no good. Maybe the burgers & sandwiches are great, but what we had was bad. If we are ever in the area again, we may go in to buy apple butter and a pan of...
Read moreOn our rental cabin shortlist for places to eat! Southern charm is spot on for southern cooking with reasonable prices with only small exceptions. We were greeted out front by the maitre-d' who informed us it would be a very short wait but there is no waiting area inside so if the weather's cool be sure you dress appropriately. Inside the waitress we had was charming and helpful. Their house seasoning, that they use on everything, is borderline too intense. My family all found it more than satisfactory but if they backed off maybe 20% I think the flavor of the food would come out more. A word of advice if you're ordering a side, like we did of steamed broccoli or similar, you may want to ask them for no spices at all or just butter and salt. Hoping to get the kids to eat some vegetables, it was a no go with "spicy" steamed broccoli. The other observation was that they tried too hard on the decor, it's too smooth clean and bright, could benefit from some rustic touches (natura wood, timber beams, local art) that frankly wouldn't cost much at all just to give it some charm that it's lacking. It's a relatively sterile environment which isn't bad but from a marketing perspective I think they're leaving something on the table by not doing this. The only other comment was that they have converted everything to LED lighting which is commendable for energy saving and efficiency, but the colors are all mismatched with the majority of the bulbs being a very bright whitish blue which just doesn't fit with an old school southern restaurant. They're accentuated even more by the 20% of regular warm white LED's. This also has an effect on the food, the warmer color tones will generally make the food more palatable. Oh, the biscuits!!! Maybe the BEST I've had? One per person complimentary... Maybe raise all prices .02 and give a second round! Owners, this is your Purple Cow...
