Sandy's Restaurant and Banquet Room — Restaurant in Blue Springs

I dined during the lunch hour with my family and in-laws who happen to enjoy comfort food. The restaurant was clean and open with booths and free standing tables. The staff greeted us, upon entering and asked us to have a set anywhere. Upon finding our seating, the staff took our drink order and allowed us time to decide on our dishes. While the service throughout was nice and attentive, there was a long delay in getting out food ordered. The staff asked us once, if we were ready to order, one of our party wasn’t quite ready and asked the associate to return in a few minutes. The associate returned after 10 plus minutes which seemed a little too long. However, once back, she apologized, took our orders and was very nice and pleasant. My wife ordered a chef’s salad, while I ordered the hamburger and fries. The kids ordered, cheeseburgers and fries. The kids meals come with an entrée, two side items, drinks, and a desert. My wife’s salad looked good and she said it had a great taste. You could tell my hamburger was fresh and not initially frozen. The service once the food arrived was very good, making sure drinks were filled, and condiments provided. Upon entering the establishment, I saw this restaurant was again in the running for the best restaurant in this part of Jackson County. I would say, based on the ambience, cleanliness, friendly staff, and type of food served, I can see why. The only reason, I did not provide 5 stars, was due to the long wait experienced before ordering. This may be an once and while thing, but it just had to be on our first visit. I went here tonight and I will never go back again. I ordered the 3 alarm hamburger with fries and also ordered a side of the fried okra, and a sweet tea. The meal cost me a little over $24 dollars and I left the waitress a dollar tip. First off, the hamburger was very small and the taste was extremely mediocre, and the hamburger patty was definitely a store bought fry from frozen patty. The fries were good, but there was a very small amount of them, very small. The okra was terrible, very terrible. It was definitely not fried there, it was definitely some pre-fried store bought, warm up in the microwave okra. To make matters worse, the amount was less than 3 ounces, served in a tiny dish. I have eaten here before and they used to have very good food, and the quantity was good. And I have got the okra before, and it was good, actually fried in the restaurant. Do not eat here if you want quality, the prices have gone up and quality has gone way down. I feel like I should be refunded some of my money, cause I was definitely ripped off. I plan to call the owner. I work as a cook at Hy-Vee, and I see why we get so much business, our food quality is way better, you get more food, for less money. Sandy's is not the only restaurant getting like this, a lot of my customers tell me they prefer to eat in our market grill, because you can get a good meal, more food, for less. We very much enjoyed our lunch! All the staff was very warm and welcoming. Elisha, our server, was AMAZING! I have a severe food allergy to mushrooms, and the staff was able to accommodate me. This is literally the biggest issue I ever have going out to eat. Some restaurants simply cannot accommodate me, and I understand.

I ordered the tenderloin sandwich with tater tots. My husband ordered the hot beef with mashed potatoes. Our children ordered the miniature corn dogs with mac and cheese and shrimp with tater tots from the children's menu.

Where do I start?! First, we all ate too much. It was DELICIOUS! The tenderloin sandwich was perfectly fried, and thicker - which I loved! The horseradish sauce was phenomenal. I couldn't finish it; the portion was VERY generous.

My husband's hot beef was delicious. The meat was tender, gravy was good and portion size was generous.

The miniature corn dogs. Oh. My. Goodness! I want to order them for myself! Just the right combination of crunch and crisp. The mac and cheese was super cheesy!

The shrimp were huge! Fried perfectly and the tater tots were crispy and delicious.

We also ordered a bonus 1/4 order of biscuits and gravy. INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!

Overall, we are INCREDIBLY satisfied, and now have a go-to spot to go eat whenever we are on this...
