The Meadows Original Frozen Custard and Italian Ice — Restaurant in Blythe

After a date lunch, this is our favorite place to hang out before heading back to work. The custard, in my opinion, is better than ice cream. The flavors are richer and the texture is more smooth—think exceptionally high quality soft serve. The mix-ins (today was butterfingers) are evenly spread throughout, not clumped or on top. Today the ratio of candy to custard was just right. Not too much of either.

The restaurant is very kid-friendly, with a playpen and toys for the younger children and board games for the older ones. They have a changing table with some emergency diapers, if you need them (very surprised by that!)

I was also pleased to note that they serve my favorite local coffee roaster, Goat Kick Coffee. I haven’t tried their espresso drinks, so no comments on that, but they do have coffee if you’d like that to go with...

You're routinely greeted by young staff members that don't always care what your experience is which is the reason for 4 stars. I don't expect them to understand that the experience is what brings customers back. Meadows however doesn't deserve less than 4 stars because the product they offer and what you make of it. We have enjoyed sunsets in their parking lot sipping a espresso milkshake, we have brought our grandson here and made some memories while he came to visit. We established a routine with our god-daughters when they come to visit. They all have a favorite that they can only get at Meadow's. For that we are grateful. Just left from this place a little while ago and was really hoping for a great experience but, alas, it was not to be. I ordered a Black Cow which was supposed to be a root beer float with my custard of choice. I told the guy I wanted the Turtle flavor with the root beer. What I got was a really poor plain root beer float with vanilla. We got our order to go so I wasn't aware of the mistake until we had already left. I don't know...I thought this place was supposed to be a new and different alternative to the other fro-yo places and to Culver's. Think I'll stick to the good ole standards!
