I would like to provide the management with the details of the customer service I just experienced at this location (12/18/2023). I placed a mobile order at 2:10 PM. I arrived approximately 5 minutes later, there were (2) other customers in the lobby. One was there before me and one walked in directly after me. The drive thru had 3 cars in it. I watched the drive thru line clear out twice and build up a third time. This entire time there was ONE barista making drinks, one working the drive thru. And one working on a deposit at the front counter where customers orders are taken. First- that is not a very smart business practice to have that much cash out literally at your front register. Secondly, the poor barista making all the drinks was busting their behind and never stopped moving. Another customer asked if her ticket did not print because so much time had transpired. The employee working on the deposit responded with " it printed, there are other mobile orders ahead of yours and there is one person making drinks". I stated that it seemed as tho the drive thru was a priority, and the one person was busting their behind, but it seemed as if someone could help them. The employee never responded to me or the other customer who continued to complain about the wait times.
I waited a total of 22 minutes for my 1 drink. I used to work in the food and bev industry (as a manager) sometimes you have to lock that deposit in the safe and help your people and prioritize your customers. She did not do that. When the deposit was finished she then FAILED TO WASH HER HANDS, walked over the the coffee machine, grabbed the cinnamon shaker sprinkled some on top of a drink, added a top and then happened to call MY name as it was my drink. She then loudly told me " You're Welcome" to which I responded I hope you have a better rest of your day and change your attitude.
I just want to let someone know because 1) I as a paying customer paid $6 and some change for a cup of coffee I had to wait 22 minutes for to be served by an employee/ team lead with a nasty attitude. And 2) she failed to wash her hands and then contaminated the cup and the shaker with that dirty money. The Staff is unfriendly, rude, unprofessional, and unwilling to help when you have a question. They act as if you are bothering them when you say anything to them. Iām standing at the register and the cashier was business doing something on her cellphone rather taking my order. They are very slow and seem to donāt care that they have several ppl waiting because conversations are being had everywhere instead of getting these orders out. The drinks are never made the same as the other Starbucks or never taste like they should taste. I like my coffee extremely hot. A Manager told me at another Starbucks to always ask to have your coffee steamed at 180 degrees instead of extra hot. Never had a problem with it being done at any location until I move to South Carolina and started coming to this location. I came in one day and requested 180 it was done. Can in the next day requested 180 the young lady making the drink at like she didnāt know it could be done and ask the manager who told her yes she made the drink which was not hot and I asked her to remake the drink it still was hot then the manager comes over and says that itās their machine. I explained that it was steaming at at 180 yesterday when I came in. I requested my money back. Went down the street and got it from another Starbucks steamed at 180. Iām not sure why itās a problem to get my coffee hot. This staff needs to go down the street and take training from the Chick fil A to see exactly how to provide great customer service. I visited the Starbucks located near Kroger in Columbia, South Carolina, on Friday, June 6, 2025. I have been getting the same drink ā an iced cherry chai tea with no dairy ā for a little over a month, every day on my way to work, Monday through Friday. I usually pay around $7.10 for this order.
During this visit, the staff member who took my order informed me that it would be an additional $1.27 because of an extra charge for my allergy. I find this charge unreasonable, especially since I have a dairy allergy and this customization is necessary for my health. Charging extra for a modification related to an allergy seems unfair, and I believe this policy needs to be reviewed. Customers with allergies should not be penalized with additional charges for accommodations that are essential for their well-being.
Additionally, I go to a different Starbucks location about a mile away, and they do not charge me extra for this customization; itās significantly less expensive. The difference in pricing between the two locations is ridiculous and unfair.
Moreover, the customer service I received from the barista was not satisfactory. Her attitude and approach were quite poor, which made the experience even more disappointing.
