Excellent Food. Service lacking. Arrived at 715 for dinner during Sukkot. Only a few other tables occupied. There appeared to be 1 server who was very friendly and helpful....in the beginning. She quickly fell behind and , although trying to be helpful and friendly, continued to forget about us. Understandable when understaffed, but it started to distract from an otherwise delicious dinner. Waiting because there is only 1 server as people are coming in is understandable, but since we were only 2 people, she would frequently forget about us and ignore our eye contact and then signaling. Appetizers came out way after 2 or 3 other tables that arrived later were served. The main (hamburgers) came out reasonable with the help of the busboy. Only one problem with the food, the side of mushrooms was inedibly salty- but getting her attention took until we were basically finished eating. And then only when we approached the hostess. Anyway- we are usually forgiving when they are understaffed or very very busy- but this seemed excessive: extremely friendly and cheerful, but then avoided contact to take care of the new arrivals and larger earlier groups. And then although encouraging us to buy drinks because of a 50% off sale- still charged us the full price until we pointed it out when paying (which we had to get up from the table to do because the server was not coming over) Anyway- wanted to focus on the food, which was mostly excellent and good value so here goes: Starters: Pastrami pancake bites was unique and tasty (patrami a little bland but overall worthwhile). Potato Croquettes: Excellent starter- highly recommend Hamburgers: Perfect doneness at medium rare to rare. Many places overcook in the name of being "healthy". These were excellent. The plain burger and the burger with Mango salsa (sunny isles) were both fabulous. Sides: mushrooms should have been good but were way too salty so exchanged for sweet potato fries which were excellent. Also regular fries were very good. Drinks: Strawberry daiquari very good. Burnt Mai Tai very good taste but too sweet. (no desert because she just too long to come back to us) All in all a very goo meal and reasonable prices but service tainted our experience. Will probably try...
Read moreMy recent visit to Burnt left me utterly delighted with its culinary offerings and impeccable service. This cozy restaurant has undergone a menu transformation, and the new additions were nothing short of culinary magic.
To start, the Potato Croquettes stole the show. These deep-fried balls of heaven combined pastrami, a creamy potato center, Carolina gold, and black garlic, creating a burst of flavors in every bite. It was an appetizer that set the tone for an exceptional meal.
Isaac and I decided to share the Crosscut Shortrib, a dish that truly exemplified tender perfection. The shortrib practically fell off the bone and was generously slathered in a delightful Bourbon BBQ and Carolina gold sauce, leaving us craving more.
For the main course, we savored the Boneless Flanken. The chef's generosity was evident as the portion size was so substantial that we had to take some home to enjoy another day. The flavors and tenderness of the meat were remarkable.
Of course, we couldn't leave without indulging in dessert. The strawberry sorbet with lavender was a delightful and refreshing conclusion to our meal, offering a perfect balance of sweet and fragrant notes.
Beyond the exceptional food, I must commend the staff for their impeccable service. The warmth and attentiveness of the team made us feel right at home. We especially enjoyed our time chilling at the bar, where we experienced a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
In conclusion, Burnt is a culinary gem that continues to impress with its delectable dishes and inviting ambiance. If you're in search of a memorable dining experience, look no further than Burnt – it's a...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating here. My wife and I have gone to ETC which is owned by Seth Warshaw in Teaneck and it became one of our favorite steak houses for special occasions so we had pretty high expectations for "Burnt". We set up our reservation through Google earlier in the week but when we arrived they did not have us on file. Luckily there was an available 4 seater that we took with our 2 friends. I started by ordering a $31.00 bottle of Rose which the waitress screwed up and gave us a $49.00 bottle that they added to our bill unknowingly to us, at the end of the meal. This was a mistake on their part and should have been remedied without mentioning. We paid for it but I am not very happy about it.
The tex mex and loaded fries were delicious. The main dishes were all underwhelming. The burger was ok but way over priced. The smoked prime rib was just bad. It was dry and lacked much flavor. The smoked wings didn't taste smoked at all but they had a dry rub that was mediocre. The Spare rib was mediocre. The vegies were ok but the smoked onion was just an entire steamed onion and didn't taste smoked at all. I could only eat so much steamed onion. The corn bread was not very good either. We come to restaurants like this to experience something better than what we can throw together at home on any given night. Nothing we had was exceptional and worth the price we paid. I do not think I would go back to this place...
