Ichiban Sushi and Thai — Restaurant in Boca Raton

Unfortunately they were not open at their posted time. We drove 30 minutes to get there and we're excited to eat lunch there because of their fairly good reviews. We arrived at about 11: 10am which is 10 minutes after they should be open for service. No one was there, the door was locked and the lights were off. As we were leaving we noticed three individuals with restaurant t-shirts on pulling in to the parking lot and watch them walk to the restaurant nonchalantly. I went back in after they open the door and asked if they were open for service and one of them answered, in a very uninterested tone, that they were late and it would take a while for them to be ready so I could wait if I wanted to. No apology or eagerness to serve. Obviously we were not going to stay after a response like that. I'm giving them 3 stars because of the poor service and I think that is generous. Visiting a friend nearby and we decided to get some Asian food in the neighborhood..... Came across this place online and decided to try it out based upon the positive reviews. Pleasantly surprised at how decent this place is ... Came on a Saturday night, and it was pretty empty, which turned out to be a slow night, but we loved it not being crowded with 4 kids with us. We ordered sushi, fried rice and even Thai chicken pad krapow; all were pretty decent. Chatting with the nice server, she shared that the owner used to be the apprentice at this Asian restaurant for many years, and taught by the Japanese owner.... He learned everything that she had to teach him about cooking Asian food, and sushi making. This place is certainly better than almost all the Chinese food places in Boca, and just as good as any Japanese restaurant in Boca. Prices are very fair.... Modest surroundings, but also has a nice little outdoor dining set up. Highly...

Relatively new place ..6 mths Small .. Clean.. Hole in the wall with outside dining. However ???? Food is cooked fresh ...Sushi made fresh .. Soups ..teas.. All made fresh Quality really good.. Real crab .. Nice portions.. Could loose the cream cheese in roles. Tempora great quaiity. Light clean oil...excellent size shrimp. Thai food excellent. This place serves really fresh food and isn't that why we go out to dine? Great food? Recommendation... a gem in the raw. Go ..eat.. Enjoy.. This could become your go to sushi thai place to go.
