It is evident that this company doesn't care about their employees or their customers. The only thing that matters to Meijer is their bottom line. Marginally more expensive than Walmart, marginally better quality products than Walmart, marginally cleaner than Walmart, I'd still rather go to Target. We shop here on occasion because it's the closest store to our home. They will always have at least one type of whatever item you are looking for, but it will probably be more than you'd like to pay. And if you're going to spend the money anyway, you might as well go to Target or Jewel. We ended up stopping here on Saturday night to pick up a few things for the 4th of July holiday party we were going to the next day. They had the self-checkout and two registers open. The night before a holiday. With more than 20 register lanes in the store, they only had two open the night before the holiday. The problem is they know people aren't going to walk out once they reach the overcrowded checkout so they don't care how long they make people wait to check out. If you don't value how you spend your time or money, this is the store for you. Oh, and their rewards program is a joke. We spent $160 there Saturday night and the reward we "earned" was a $2 coupon to a future purchase. They use coupon rewards because they expire. They've figured out all the ways to make sure they make it look like they're giving you a good deal, but they're actually keeping as much money in their own pockets as they can. I'm not naive. All companies are looking out for their bottom line. But there are companies that obviously take care of their employees and care about the customer experience (like Costco) and are very successful. I just can't respect any organization that doesn't respect the people who keep them...
Read moreI have never been so insulted. I was stopped an accused of theft. My husband and I hadn’t stolen anything so we had no issue with “Joann” checking our bags at first. But she grabbed our cart and held it so we couldn’t pull it out of the middle of the walk way. She then went on to claim we hadn’t paid for things we both actually watched pop up on the screen. When we went to show her where those items were on the receipt, she wouldn’t let us even see what she was talking about. Then there were the people that were forced to walk around us as all this was going on. She made a big show anytime anyone stopped behind us to wait for their bags to be checked too of saying “oh no, not you, JUST them.” After this had gone on for a while, another employee who was on the phone turns to her and says “they’re good Joann”. We didn’t get an explanation, not even an apology for being publicly shamed for something we hadn’t done. Even if we had accidentally not paid for something, she could’ve just let us pay for it instead of holding us in the middle of the walkway and shaming us. And in case she sees this, I’ve underlined everything you accused us of stealing on our receipt. I’d have been happy to point them out to you in the moment had you allowed us an opportunity to...
Read morefor the most part this is a decent place to shop for groceries when they keep "hot items" in stock the Weber store Deli is not as knowledgeable or as friendly as the Boughton Rd. deli in Bolingbrook for example I asked for the new label to be printed on my meat that contain the sodium content and the meijer associate tried to tell me that they didn't have that feature available and my rebutt " well the other Meijer on Boughton does it all the time for me" again the Meijer assoc. came up with excuse after excuse until my persistence caused her to huffe and puff w/attitude of annoyance, by snatching a box of meat sheets & placing it on the scale and entered code for low sodium turkey (not the low sodium Echrich Ham that i was buying) and it worked but the print was so small you needed bifocals to read it. So it would seem to me that someone thats been working there in same dept for over a decade should know how to work the system better! I see why a lot of stores are going out of business and the thing of the past as Amazon cont to push the enevolpe of the future with stores w/out workers and home delivery services that is top notch; so you don't have to deal with lazy unfriendly unapologetic store...
