I have never been so insulted. I was stopped an accused of theft. My husband and I hadn’t stolen anything so we had no issue with “Joann” checking our bags at first. But she grabbed our cart and held it so we couldn’t pull it out of the middle of the walk way. She then went on to claim we hadn’t paid for things we both actually watched pop up on the screen. When we went to show her where those items were on the receipt, she wouldn’t let us even see what she was talking about. Then there were the people that were forced to walk around us as all this was going on. She made a big show anytime anyone stopped behind us to wait for their bags to be checked too of saying “oh no, not you, JUST them.” After this had gone on for a while, another employee who was on the phone turns to her and says “they’re good Joann”. We didn’t get an explanation, not even an apology for being publicly shamed for something we hadn’t done. Even if we had accidentally not paid for something, she could’ve just let us pay for it instead of holding us in the middle of the walkway and shaming us. And in case she sees this, I’ve underlined everything you accused us of stealing on our receipt. I’d have been happy to point them out to you in the moment had you allowed us an opportunity to defend ourselves.

Meijer is clean, well stocked, and very friendly employees. Though this week there were very few items we buy on sale, we still shopped there as we always do. 8/24/22 They had almost everything I needed this time. They weren't well stocked on their French bread pizzas. I buy them all the time. About 20 at a time. The last two times they had 3. I'm sad they don't keep their shelves as stocked as they used to. I also mix my own drinks with the 10 pack drink mix dry packs. They are so much cheaper than the Gatorade bottles and they make the same 20 oz bottles. Except there are 10 packs in the box. Instead of paying 6.89 for an 8 pack, you're paying 2-3.00 for a 10 pack. They don't have all the flavors, but it's worth the switch. You save sooo much money. Another thing it such a great variety to soda. We've been using alternatives for about 5 years. And we don't regret it. Take a look at them. Most people don't notice them. 11/1/22 We found what was needed. They had everything. 3/2/23 I found something new in the clearance rack in the woman's department and I love it. The milk was almost out. I'm disappointed. 1/1/24 Big sales today. I was impressed for the new year.

Meijer....this is the first time I am hearing, seeing or visiting a store named Meijer. This was located in Chicago. It is a big store that looks like a combination of Walmart and Kroger in the sense that they have regular groceries amd also clothing items and all. Basically, we went there looking for ice cubes. They had ice cubes, but only in small packs. We needed to get about 15 (if they were the large packs) but we had to get 30 to enable us have enough for our party that day. We almost emptied the whole ice they had...lol. Alot of people were looking for ice that weekend because there were alot of parties going and and also July 4th celebration. They have clothing for kids, men and women, they have food items and fruits. I couldn't go around much to see all they have and take enough pictures because there was no much time. However, u believe you can get regular household groceries here and clothing too. And oh! They have Meijer Optical, and think this is super cute. There is also a makeup shop or something there, they were closed when we got there. So yea, I believe Meijer is a place to go for your regular household groceries and clothing.

It is evident that this company doesn't care about their employees or their customers. The only thing that matters to Meijer is their bottom line. Marginally more expensive than Walmart, marginally better quality products than Walmart, marginally cleaner than Walmart, I'd still rather go to Target. We shop here on occasion because it's the closest store to our home. They will always have at least one type of whatever item you are looking for, but it will probably be more than you'd like to pay. And if you're going to spend the money anyway, you might as well go to Target or Jewel. We ended up stopping here on Saturday night to pick up a few things for the 4th of July holiday party we were going to the next day. They had the self-checkout and two registers open. The night before a holiday. With more than 20 register lanes in the store, they only had two open the night before the holiday. The problem is they know people aren't going to walk out once they reach the overcrowded checkout so they don't care how long they make people wait to check out. If you don't value how you spend your time or money, this is the store for you. Oh, and their rewards program is a joke. We spent $160 there Saturday night and the reward we "earned" was a $2 coupon to a future purchase. They use coupon rewards because they expire. They've figured out all the ways to make sure they make it look like they're giving you a good deal, but they're actually keeping as much money in their own pockets as they can. I'm not naive. All companies are looking out for their bottom line. But there are companies that obviously take care of their employees and care about the customer experience (like Costco) and are very successful. I just can't respect any organization that doesn't respect the people who keep them...

for the most part this is a decent place to shop for groceries when they keep "hot items" in stock the Weber store Deli is not as knowledgeable or as friendly as the Boughton Rd. deli in Bolingbrook for example I asked for the new label to be printed on my meat that contain the sodium content and the meijer associate tried to tell me that they didn't have that feature available and my rebutt " well the other Meijer on Boughton does it all the time for me" again the Meijer assoc. came up with excuse after excuse until my persistence caused her to huffe and puff w/attitude of annoyance, by snatching a box of meat sheets & placing it on the scale and entered code for low sodium turkey (not the low sodium Echrich Ham that i was buying) and it worked but the print was so small you needed bifocals to read it. So it would seem to me that someone thats been working there in same dept for over a decade should know how to work the system better! I see why a lot of stores are going out of business and the thing of the past as Amazon cont to push the enevolpe of the future with stores w/out workers and home delivery services that is top notch; so you don't have to deal with lazy unfriendly unapologetic store...
