I WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO HERE THE FEMALE OWNER HAS ABSOLUTLEY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL! Me and a good friend went there for the first time for their margarita special the waiter who apparently was also a owner did not tell give us the speacials drink menu but instead gave us a regular menu and failed to tell us that it would be extra to get a different flavored margarita.When we asked the waiter about our bill he apologized and we asked should we take the issue up front where you pay.We then went up front and explained that we had not been shown the menu stating that it was extra for different flavoring and explained that we verbally confirmed the price with the waiter before ordering (once again he never let us know it was extra to get anything besides a like margarita) We explained to the owner that we were not made aware and that it was our first time coming so we didnt know it was a separate menu for specials prices.The.owner proceeded to tell us that we would still need to pay the extra fee because it was still cheaper than what the normally is.She had an EXTREMELEY NASTY ATTITUDE the entire time we talked and I let her know that I found her customer service to be extremely poor.She then threatened to have the police called on me for refusing to pay for extra flavoring and wouldn't not take my money when I tried to pay.I have been to other Don Pepes and have never had this type of neg. experience dont waste your money here its better to go to the one up Hull Street where your appreciated as a customer.They didn't even ID us.Horrible customer service from the owners nothing like other PEPE business.They should have their name and liquor license revoked for the trash the owners acted like.I feel sorry for the employees to have to work under such...

On 5/24/13, I set on a quest to find a restaurant that provided an authentic Mexican cuisine experience. And because Taco Bell was packed with customers during mid day, I opted to go to Pepe's Mexican Restaurant. Upon being seated at my table, my server placed a basket of hand crafted gourmet tortilla chips with two made from scratch sauces. Here is my review...

The Good:

Prices- The menu is filled with many food items to choose from. Most of the items on the menu are under $8. This restaurant has a lunch special from 11am-4pm that offers a decent amount of food for a low price.

Taste- Unlike Taco Bell, there is no question that the meat Pepe's uses is real and has a great taste to it. I ordered the Burittos Chuchos, which was two shredded beef burrotos with nacho cheese and comes with sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and choice of beans or rice. The flavors all came together and reminded me why there should be a higher demand for authentic Mexican restaurants in the area.

The Bad:

Portion Size- While the food was good, it certainly was not filling. I ordered the Burittos Chucho at about $7.50. The two burritos and beans that arrived on the plate was a significantly smaller portion than what one may get in one $6.50 Chipolte Burrito. If you are not a hungry someone like me, you like this place. If you have an appetite, you might want to order 2-3 entrees to fee full.

Questionable:

Service- While my server was nice and knowledgeable of the menu items, he was rarely around after taking my order and the food came out slightly longer than anticipated.

Overall- While the food is not filling to my standards, it has a great taste and is inexpensive. To the Mexican cuisine connoisseurs, this place is a hit and I wouldnt mind going back...

I used to love this place, but last night was awful and I won't be returning. 2 friends and I were seated in a section that had no one else around except a table directly across from us that turned out to be friends with our waiter. In the beginning they kept looking at us and whispering to eachother, and I just ignored it. Then one of them says "so ladies can I buy you drinks?" We politely say no, and try to continue our dinner. All the while the waiter keeps coming over to talk to his friends but only occasionally checks in on us. Towards the end we were waiting for our check for a good 20 minutes, and when the waiter comes over his back is towards us to talk to them. At one point the waiter whispered something in Spanish, he turns around and they all look at us, then they start laughing! At this point I'm getting really ticked, because we had been finished for a while and we were now his personal entertainment. The waiter walks away, and one of the men has the nerve to lean across the aisle and try to strike up the "so where are you from/what are you up to tonight." At this point I ignored him and waived down our waiter for our check. Once I get it, I came to discover he put all his friends beer on our check! I was livid! I go up front and say how frustrated I am and how unacceptable it is for a waiter to sneak beer onto our checks after ignoring us so his friends can hit on us. The girl upfront was kind but clearly didn't know what else to say other than "I'm sorry that happened." Makes me wonder if they hire men who harass their customers how much harassment the employees get. Terrible, terrible experience. Shame on this...
