My family and I ate at Brady’s once during our stay in Booth Bay, and I attempted to eat there one additional time. Our experience was a mixed bag. At our first visit, the first thing that bothered me about the service was that when I asked if we could sit at a different table before we sat down, for a more unobstructed view of the water, I was told “no because we have to rotate staff.” I understand not over working staff but I did not understand why the table we wanted could not have just been given to the wait staff member who was supposed to wait on us. If you are in a service industry, why not do something little that will only enhance the customer’s experience. As it turned out, we would have been right next to another table that our waitress was serving. It would have been easier for her than the location we had, and we may have gotten more attention. Our food was mostly the positive aspect of our visit….My order of Bourbon Street Haddock was delicious. My husband enjoyed the baked stuffed haddock as well but wished he had gotten what I ordered. My daughter, however, ordered bang bang shrimp which was way more like buffalo shrimp than it was bang bang shrimp. It was edible, but not what she wanted. Our other two children were happy with their meals of fried shrimp and a hot dog off the kids meal. Our waitress checked on us only once right after the meal was served. I had to flag her down for a refill, which took several attempts. On our last night in town I told everyone to let me know where their favorite meal came from and I would go get takeout from each location and we would eat together at the place we were staying. I REALLY wanted the bourbon haddock again. My husband wanted Ports pizza across the street from Brady’s. When I called to order my food I was told they didn’t “do take out after 4 pm”. When we got to Ports, my husband encouraged me to walk across the street and ask them if I could just order at the bar and take it to go. I didn’t want to because after our experience with the requested table change, I was sure they were not going to be accommodating. But I gave it a try and was again disappointed. I told the bar tender my husband wanted pizza across the street, but I wanted a meal from them. I asked if I could order and take it to go. “No, Im sorry we cant do that. We are already backed up”. I don’t get it. They were seating people as we spoke. There was NO wait. I was willing to wait however long it took to get my meal. I was staying 2 minutes down the road. I could have come back. Why couldn’t I place an order, wait until it was ready, and then take it with me?? So I told her I would just have to go get pizza across the street. “Sorry” was all I got. It was very disappointing. The prices here are high in my opinion, but comparable to the other places in town. I would not have gone back based on the service at our first visit, but that dish was really good. I don’t think they need the business though, if they can’t allow someone to come in, order food, not care about how long it takes to get their food, and then take it with them. They just don’t seem to need business badly enough to provide good service, so dont...
Read moreIn town for my birthday weekend, and we wanted pub fare type food this evening. A quick google search popped up Brady’s, and showed great reviews. 4.4 for nearly 400 reviews. One has to wonder where and when all those folks ate here because it clearly isnt the same restaurant we ate at.
Half the place is a bar and half is a restaurant. We sat down at a table in the restaurant side, after a brief 15 minute wait. We did call ahead and were told there was no wait, and arriving just a couple minutes later we were a little surprised but 15 minutes isn’t a big deal. We were given menus and began to review them. When the waitress came by, I ordered a frozen drink from the bar and was told they put “their ice machine away” and can’t make frozen drinks. If half your business is a bar I would have expected to order most any ordinary bar drink without issue. A daiquiri shouldn’t have been a good deal. The waitress also never told us of any specials but we later heard a waitress tell another table what the specials were.
We ended up ordering two glasses of water, a Brady Burger(the only beef burger they have on the menu) a fried chicken sandwich, and an order of onion rings. 20 minutes later we see onion rings placed on the counter in front of the kitchen, where they sat for the next 15 minutes or so. Our water was delivered at about the 30minute mark. And the now lukewarm onion rings came to the table with our entree baskets.
The onion rings were large, crispy and tasted overbearingly of unseasoned flour, and had no dipping sauce. The friend chicken was crispy, a little too much so, and resembled having been friend alongside or within the same oil as friend fish, and had the same over-floured, under seasoned taste, despite being a hearty portion.
No one ever checked back to refill beverages, ask how everything was, bring us anything else, etc. it was a dump and run kind of service and we certainly didn’t feel as though our business was valued.
Overall, non attentive staff in a restaurant serving over-rated, under-seasoned, food priced more than it’s worth. Save your money and find a different...
Read moreWish I read the reviews first 😔 We stopped here bc it was close to our hotel and we had done the Boothbay downtown scene the night before. Our server was cordial and it ended there. The meal was simply not good. One of my kids ordered cheesesteak egg rolls, they were ok, but too greasy. My husband had a flavorless crab cake sandwich, my daughter had an embarrassing salad with haddock on top - embarrassing bc of what they changed for the sad size of the dish and my chicken sandwich tasted sour and it was mostly breading had a hard time finding the chicken under all the greasy breading making it literally inedible. The fries had good seasoning, but unfortunately after a few that I ate, one tasted like mold and I just threw in the towel at that point. The ranch dressing was ok, but watered down. We had a long day of touring the area and I wasn’t feeling confrontational so we ate what we could and left. This was a very unfortunate meal or lack there of. Our wine came in a plastic cups; a clear flag to probably not expect much. Outdoor seating was ok, but our corner table near the bar was slanted and creaky when servers passed by to go to the bar/kitchen which made it a little uncomfortable. Save yourself the trip and eat at probably any place that would be better than this. I would have rather remained hungry instead of the agita the few bites I...
