🍕✨ A Night to Remember at Marcello’s Coal Fired Restaurant & Pizza! ✨🍕
If you’re searching for authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and an unforgettable dining experience, Marcello’s in Bordentown, NJ is the place to be! We had the pleasure of indulging in their incredible dishes, and let me tell you—it was nothing short of spectacular.
Here’s what made our visit so memorable:
🔥 Coal-Fired Pizza: Their signature pizza stole the show! Perfectly charred crust, gooey cheese, and fresh toppings blended together in perfect harmony. It’s the kind of pizza you dream about long after your plate is empty.
🍝 House-Made Pasta: We dove into a plate of their fresh, homemade pasta, cooked to perfection and tossed in a flavorful sauce that hit all the right notes. Every bite was a testament to their passion for authentic Italian cuisine.
🧆 Arancini: These fried risotto balls were pure heaven—crispy on the outside, with a delightful stuffing of green peas, savory meat ragu, gooey mozzarella, and a touch of San Marzano tomatoes. Each bite was an explosion of flavor!
🦞 Mimosa Lobster Ravioli: Talk about luxurious! This dish featured delicate lobster ravioli paired with shrimp, crab meat, and an orange champagne cream sauce that was rich, vibrant, and utterly indulgent. A true showstopper on the menu!
🍋 Lemon Pepper Frost: This refreshing twist added a zesty, tangy kick that elevated the meal to the next level. A unique flavor profile that left our taste buds dancing with delight!
🥃 Old Fashioned: Their expertly crafted Old Fashioned was the perfect drink to round out the evening. Smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced, it was a nod to timeless sophistication that paired beautifully with the meal.
🥗 Fresh Salads & Starters: To kick things off, we enjoyed crisp, vibrant salads and mouthwatering appetizers that were the perfect prelude to the main event.
From the food to the cozy ambiance, Marcello’s brings a piece of Italy right to Bordentown. Whether you’re craving pizza perfection or elevated Italian specialties, this spot is a must-visit.
⭐ Pro Tip: Don’t leave without trying their dessert selection—trust me, it’s the cherry on top of an already unforgettable meal.

Read moreOur waitress Emma was great, but most other aspects of our visit were subpar. I have been a patron of this restaurant for several years, and it is evident that the restaurant and its practices are sloping downhill. I really hope it doesn’t continue to go that direction. My family and I (three of us) made reservations for 5:00 for dinner. We got there and saw that most, of the tables were empty. The host was flippant with a particularly negative attitude. We were to be seated in the side room, but we asked if we could be seated at the high top and were met with a hard no. I understood because the dinner rush was about to happen and the tables were probably reserved, but I wasn’t impressed when, on our way out, one of those tables was STILL open. We got to the table and were served bread that was definitely not fresh. It was cold and quite hard. Looking at the menu, I saw that we were only allowed one basket of bread and would be charged for any more. Upon ordering appetizers and entrees, we were told that the meals didn’t even come with a side salad. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer and the bread was stale. I will say, I ordered the mimosa lobster ravioli, and despite it not actually having any lobster in it, it was definitely the highlight of the visit as always.
In my opinion, an Italian restaurant is supposed to be all inclusive. That means side salads, breads, etc. I know that Marcello’s policies have begun to change, but at this point it’s starting to seem like penny-pinching; many changes that I’ve picked up on were very unnecessary. It’s not very becoming of such a high-profile restaurant. Especially if you’re charging $4 for a sprite with some grenadine (without free refills!). I expected better, and I was disappointed by the quality of most of the food, as well as its respective pricing. This was my first visit in a while, and it is likely I will not come back for a...
Read moreDO NOT COME ON MOTHER’S DAY I would like to say that my rating is simply based off of my experience on Mother’s Day. I have ate at Marcello’s many times before and have always been impressed by the friendly staff and good food. However on Mother’s Day I was nothing short of disappointed. I got a bad feeling as soon as we sat down when the table next to us was complaining that they never got their appetizers and had been sitting there for an hour and a half. Just after that, their pizza came out and they never received their apps. The waiter did nothing to rectify the issue and the family was visibly upset. They have a reduced menu which you would think is to simplify what meals the kitchen is making to have a quick turn around time. However, that was not the case. It took us almost 30 minutes before a waiter even came up to us and got us water. When he did he didn’t even introduce himself, and when he finally took our orders for food it was an hour into our reservation (we had not even received bread). An hour and a half into our reservation our apps came out, which were very small, followed by our dinner about 2 hours into our reservation which were also very small. Chicken parm (1 small piece) was burnt(black), saltimbocca was overpowered with lemon(2 small pieces), and eggplant rollatini was small (1 small piece). Additionally, all of our pasta was hard and not cooked. We were so hungry and tired of waiting we did not want to send anything back. However, I think it’s important to let everyone know our experience and to recommend to others to dine elsewhere on days such as Mother’s Day and other holidays. The bill was ridiculous for the amount of food we received and the quality of it. I do hope to return to Marcello’s in the future with hopes that I won’t be met with this service again on a normal night. But, I will refrain from coming here in the future for...
