Heard great things about Benevento’s. Made a late night reservation for the 2 of us online & made it hours in advance. Showed up to the area about an hour early, so we went to a coffee shop nearby. Showed up to Benevento’s 15 minutes before our reservation to check in. There was the hostess & a couple that walked in right before us, & the hostess quickly said “shut the door!” in an unflattering tone. It wasn’t like we were just sitting there with the door open, we were right behind the couple that had just walked in & 3 people was too much for the front of the restaurant to handle for us to go in. Good thing we got there early, because the hostess had no record of us as she was using an unorganized pencil & paper. We showed her our email confirmation for our reservation & she questioned us on when we had made it. When we told her that we made the reservation hours ago, she got very stressed & put us at the bottom of the list. We needed to quickly use the restroom so we headed back. There is only one male/female restroom that can not accommodate the restaurant. As we were waiting to use the bathroom, another guy came up behind us to wait. A waitress quickly said to him, “you can see there is a wait. You need to go back to your table & I’ll let you know when the restroom is open.” How uncomfortable! Moving on, the restroom was disgusting. No details needed there. We headed back to overcrowded front as the hostess made us think we were the next table. I quickly knew this wasn’t happening when a couple from the bar came up & said “I’m just checking on our 8:30 reservation” ... it was now almost 8:50. The hostess looked frantic & was denying anyone that walked into the building. A guy came to help her out & the conversation with us went like this with him talking in a very rude tone. Him: “what’s your reservation?” Us: “name for 9:00.” Him: “well I see we already got you so why are you here early?” Us: “we came to just check in early since sometimes restaurants disregard reservations that aren’t there near their time. We’ve never been here.” Him: “We got you so you no need to come early?!” Us: “actually she didn’t even have us on the list so it’s a good thing we did come early.” Him: “well you need to leave & come back.” Okay, I get it. Seems like a normal convo as we were there early & they were very overcrowded. However, the rudeness & tone from multiple employees proved this was not the restaurant to be at. They need a bigger area & definitely a digitized way of taking reservations. What’s the point of making an online reservation, when they have no record of it? Or really what’s the point of making any reservation at all since everyone was waiting past their selected time. Needless to say, we walked across the street & had no wait time at Terramia Ristorante. Was super excited about Benevento’s, but we didn’t even get to try their food due to very rude staff. We won’t be trying it soon, hopefully they make some extremely needed...
Read moreI made it Beneventos in Boston's North End FINALLY after having the pleasure of having them delivered more than once. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! If I could give them 777 stars (Vegas style), I would. Annie, our server was SUPERB, friendly, talkative, and really knew the menu. We ordered a pie with sausage, ricotta and caramelized onions, a signature cocktail and a meatball. This meal was so good that we barely touched the pie - we were completely nourished by the DELICIOUS, PERFECT meatball in the DELIGHTFUL marinara with an ample amount of freshly-grated parm that we could only manage to eat three slices of the pie. And what a shame, because that pie was SOOOOOO GOOD and everyone knows fresh, out of the oven pizza is the best! So we left the restaurant in search of a homeless veteran to give our leftovers to. (BTW Make sure to dip your fresh bread in the leftover parmed marinara!)
THEN we walked around creating art and alchemized beauty by appreciating and participating in the glorious day by sending vibrations of divine love and bliss into the North End while jammin the alien space-krunch EDM of Valhalla Superdrive while we visited other local vendors. Many prayers were said for to Joe Bono, the gracious owner with love in his eyes and his staff of first-class employees who were having a bad day because of some mechanical problems at the restaurant.
BUT WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT - a few hours later we returned for dinner and this time sat at the bar. It was around 6pm on Saturday and the restaurant's big outdoor patio was full, as was its good sized, very pleasant golden interior. This time we ordered another signature drink, the MUST-TRY pumpkin ravioli, a delicate and piping hot generous bowl of fettucine alfredo with al dente angel hair and again a solo meatball in marinara with more fresh-grated parm. Our bartender was FANTASTIC and the food was INSANELY AMAZING!

Read moreI came here about a month ago and it's still fresh in our heads. We came in since the pizzeria across the street had a longer wait, but I regret coming in here.
We were a group of 4 and they arranged our table so we were facing the wall, not each other? We ordered a few lemonades which had waay too much sugar, but that's fixable with a little ice to dilute. We tried to get our server's attention a few times who was right behind us but chatting with a friend. When he got us our ice, it was only 4 or 5 cubes! About 3 fingers high in one of their large glasses (32 oz). So little in the cup that you could only do that on purpose.
We had other people get whole specialty pies that sat down after us, but I'm okay waiting. Someone from our table tried to get a hold of our server (still about 10 feet away, joking from behind the bar), but ended up giving up.
When it came time for our check, I asked for a box to go. They said they would wrap it up, I said it wasn't neccesary (we'd been there over an hour, just for 1 pie!). They said, "I'll wrap it up". Okay. We sign our check, and I wait for the pie. We wait. It's not a big restaurant, the guy is about 20 feet away in the back. He puts it in a comically large envelope, ties it, then leaves it. He goes back to the bar and chats again with his friends. We're sitting there. For ten minutes. A long time! Our bill upright seconds after we signed, clearly ready to go. We tried to get his attention again. He came over, and reached for our bill, but I had to remind him that he still has our slices!
I understand servers have a lot of responsibilities to juggle and deserve more appreciation, but this was downright disrspectful. Do yourself a favor and go across the street, you might get more than 4 ice cubes! If you do come here anyway be sure to get a bag of ice from the...
