I wasn't familiar with the place, so a colleague and I went without placing an order, intending to order on the spot and wait. When I asked the attendant about the flavors, he indicated that for immediate consumption, they only had cheese pizzas, which were in a nearby warming cabinet. We requested 4 slices, paid, and sat down to wait. The procedure was simply to put those 4 slices in an electric oven to warm them up a bit.
While waiting, several customers arrived and left. It seemed like they had all pre-ordered and were just picking up their orders with various different flavors. However, in the meantime, we sat at one of the few tables in the place, practically facing the attendant's counter - and those who are familiar with it know that the place is quite small.
After waiting for almost half an hour, I went to ask if it would take much longer, especially since the pizzas were already cooked and just warming up in the oven. That's when the attendant asked with a surprised look what our order was. I told him it was the 4 slices being heated, and he turned to the oven and saw the pizzas practically burnt...
Honestly, I hope it was just a (huge and strange) distraction because our order was different from the others. We were the only ones who stayed right in front of the counter the whole time, practically staring at the counter while we waited... and the smell of burning was becoming quite strong.
I did feel a bit suspicious if there was any issue because we were foreigners, communication was difficult... but we hadn't done anything disrespectful for that to happen.
In the end, another flavor was offered (it wasn't available before, only cheese), we took it and left feeling...
Read moreIt looks like Boardwalk Pizza is the supreme pizza, sandwich and calzone shop in the area and there are a ton of them, so hats off. I ordered takeout via phone and my Chicken Parm Sandwich was ready within ten minutes. It was on the pricey side but food prices are outrageous anywhere you go outside of Chinatown so I would conclude that the prices are only a tick on the high side. The short lady was so nice, I had to tip when she swung the Ipad of doom around. I gave her 14% on a Takeout Order. I gotta start using cash at these places. I transported my sandwich to Seaport and looked out over the water as I devoured one half of the generously portioned sandwich. I wish I had had a fridge nearby because the second half of the sandwich sadly lay at the bottom of my bag for three or four hours, at the end of which, I was left with no choice but to eat a simalcrum of what had been handed to me when the sun was at its apex. The best way to turn this place into a cheap eat is to simply share a sandwich. I don't know when I'll be back in the area but I will likely try one of their highly rated pizzas if I have...
Read moreI always come here when I visit southie. Today? Worst experience ever, I may not return. I asked the man at the register to heat up my slice. He refused. I asked again, he assured me their pizza heater was new and the pizza is hot. I watched him struggle for several minutes to get the slices out because it wasn't hot at all, the cheese wasn't even melted. Mauled my slices with the tongs. When I got home with my slice, it made sense. There isn't any sauce on the pizza! How disgraceful. First he lied to me about the pizza being hot then withheld the fact that there was no pizza sauce on the pizza. I returned asking for sauce on the side and told him he shouldn't lie to customers like that especially when they bring business here and tip everyone. He just nodded his head, no apology, no I'm sorry you dealt with that. Didn't offer to remake them WITH SAUCE. I'm just surprised and utterly disappointed. Zero...
