My family has been a regular for the last few years! I fell in love with their honey garlic chicken(created a wrap with it). Bought pizza weekly. They were always on point. And a neighborhood favorite for many. Dave Portney even reviewed them before ownership changed, which i think helped them recover from the effects of covid and inflation. Brought in new costumers. BUT since the owner change, although most of the same staff is there. It is NOT THE SAME! I can tell when old staff makes the food verses new. Last Few times I ordered, orders were wrong. I ordered a grilled chicken parm and there was hardly any chicken in the sandwich. Multiple times I've ordered my wraps (I order the same thing every time, old staff knows) ingredients were missing. And most recently, last night 12.17.24 my family ordered, the pizza appeared smaller(even the pizza box looked slightly smaller), hardly any sauce and I don't know if they changed the cheese, but something was off about it and looked like they put TOO MUCH cheese! It didn't look or taste like Dacoopa pizza. And the prices look like they're going up. To the new owner, I'm sure you want to make changes and I understand even cost will change in the financial environment we find ourselves in. But changing too much of an establishment that's been here as long as Dacoopa's you're going to loose the regulars that have kept the place open. Want to add new items great! I'm all for that and it will bring in new regulars. But if the NEW staff can't consistently make the food right. You're going to loose all your customers! Between Kelly's Pub and Dacoopa's I normally would choose Dacoopa's(consistency and better sides - I LOVE THE HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN -were the reasons) . But the last few months I've been going to Kelly's Pub mostly because of price and only for the pizza because even if their isn't always consistent with the cook and texture of their pizza the taste is always there. I REALLY do love Dacoopa's I miss my chicken wrap(sometimes grilled, sometimes crispy) lettuce, tomato, red onion, black olive and feta with honey garlic and ranch dressing. But recently with the lack of consistency I have to think twice before ordering. I hope things get better because it would be sad to see another long time local spot to dissappear! Still waiting for Italian...
Read moreFirst I will say Sadly they did away with the Nutella Pizza a Dessert item that was Excellent with fresh fruit and a light dusting of powdered sugar. It is nice to have a Sweet item avaibme if wanted at any restaurant. Pizza is definitely In my opinion. the Best in Eastie!! You can't go wrong with plain cheese. It seems to be the best I've had next day as well. Prices seem average for the area. Subs are also Good. Ask for what YOU WANT, the Service is Great and they do the best to Accommodate. Now a real winner is the Honey Garlic Salad! Both crispy chicken style or chicken strips. It's a Salad I myself think most will Love. Best salad I've ever had Anywhere! This spit is legendary and I do think if you ask for what you want you do get it, as far as how any of your food is prepared. A big plus. Calzones are good! It's got a Great Name this Spot and it stands for a reason! Service is always friendly- who wants a cranky person taking your order? NOT ME !! I've had Friendly accommodating service walk in and on the phone. Huge thing when you order Food! That's a given moody service isn't to appetizing! Hey I can't say anything bad about this place... Put ur order in how YOU like and I think you shall Be Happy...
Read moreMaybe we should’ve ordered what they’re known to be good for, which is pizza. My girlfriend and I ordered takeout here, I had ordered a hot veggie hero (y’all call them subs here), fried raviolis, and she had a chicken kabob dinner. My hero/sub was pretty good, the ravioli definitely taste like they were frozen for too long, and not fresh. They also were a little too chewy. But edible. The real fail was the chicken kabob dinner. Now we all know chicken kabobs to be chicken served on skewers, and maybe some veggies on the skewers, and grilled. This was NOT that all. We received 3-4 pieces of just sliced grilled chicken breasts, on top of a pound of fries. And the fries were absolutely disgusting, they have been in the freezer for way too long, and maybe re-used from the day before or even before that. They were beyond stale, they fried them, but they weren’t crispy at all. Just super stale, rubbery, blan french fries. They need to just call that dinner grilled chicken and fries because that’s literally all you get. Nothing else. Very blan. That dinner just went to waste, and not eaten. Total...
