The good: the ceviche was really, really good. Nice and fresh. Asked for spicy and it was not really that spicy but the taste was there and it was good. The fried yuca was great as well. Hoemmade chicha morada was good too. These are the only reason it gets 2 stars.
The bad: everything else. The pollo a la brasa was DRY. The seasoning was very cumin heavy and tasted like the one from the jar at the grocery store. The aji verde is watery, not a hint of spice. Because it was not spicy, we asked for rocoto. I don't know what they brought us, but it tasted like blended up bell peppers with tabasco added. Tasted awful. My partner asked the server what this was, and she told him rocoto. She pointed to another table amd said they are Peruvian and they are eating it. My partner, who is very, very Peruvian, told her that he is also Peruvian and this is not rocoto. She admitted they put tabasco in it. The one out of a jar at the store tastes better. My MIL's tastes a heck of alot better. Oh, and they CHARGE EXTRA for their watery flavorless sauces for their dry chicken. If we didnt ask for aji we would have not got any. Never in my life have I seen a place charge for this. The salad we got was watery and came with no dressing. Saw a kid at another table putting ketchup on his salad because what the heck else was he supposed to do? The service was not good. Our server was rude even when we politely asked about the sauces. She dropped the avocado from my salad and did not replace it. This place is extremely overpriced as well. We won't be back and will continue to look for a pollo a la brasa spot that can even hold a candle to the awesome places we used to frequent in NJ. This...
Read moreAuthentic chicken and chica morada. I recommend getting the chica with the diced up fruit for more of a tang! This place is authentic Peruvian, as I said above. They don’t have your typical white/yellow sauce and green sauce combo - albeit having a delicious papa a la huancaina type yellow sauce with a kick (I really liked it). I thought it be important to mention the sauces as I know the majority of my friends die for the sauces.
I deducted a star simply because of the very tight seating arrangements and the relatively hefty fees for extra sauces - I got crema salvadoreña for my plantains and it ran me $2.
All in all, the pricing is good for the value, in my opinion, and the...
Read moreI ordered online, paid for my order and when I received it one of my sides was missing. I called the restaurant and they told me it wasn't their fault because when you order from THEIR website it goes through Doordash not them even though it's their menu and their website. Either way I paid $48 ($38 was in food) for what was advertised as $25 and instead of sending me my missing side they continued to argue that it wasn't their fault and couldn't do anything about it. While I understand that Doordash is a third party, I still believe that since their website directs you to them they should have fixed my order. Instead I was left with $13 worth of...
