Democracy Brewing Eastie — Restaurant in Boston

Meh. Atmosphere was dead and lacking a clear identity. Quiet dull music and was the only ones in there at 9pm on a Thursday. Some co workers and friends of employees hanging out. I can't tell if they're patronizing or celebrating the neighborhood with $17 tortas and Colombia posters. What does the rose wallpaper and overpriced Latin fare have to do with Democracy? The kitchen was closed at 9:30, but I got a delicious torta with fries for $12 around the corner after.

I think this place doesnt know what its concept is nor who it's catering to. Also how are the management content with it dead at 9pm on a Thursday - the vibe was so down.

$9 for the Helles Lager. It has a pretty average taste and just your light lager. When did $10 for an average beer become expected? Other beers are $10. If it's $10 it better be very good. What happened to appreciating customers and offering value for products? I'm not complaining I'm being fair. For a new business, which is nothing shocking of value or creativity, nor ambiance, this is surely a bold venture.

Wine was $15 a glass.

If you have to have astronomical ripoff prices, and you have no customers inside, maybe something is off?

We saw that there was a new place with a patio and fish tacos had just opened. But when we got there, we were told there weren't any fish tacos on the menu, so that was a bummer. The mango habanero wings had no mango habanero sauce, pretty bland. Tator tots were good. Tacos were a bit dry. The drinks, however, were delicious!! And the staff was really nice. The patio seating would have been better if we weren't eaten alive by mosquitoes but we know that's not the restaurants fault, it is my fault for having such delicious blood. I'll give this place another shot when it gets a little bit more...

Great spot. I love that they’ve incorporated the local vibes into their menu and didn’t just replicate what they have at their other location.
