La Cancun Restaurant — Restaurant in Boston

12 hours after eating here, I remain flabbergasted as to how this restaurant has 4.2 stars. My party and I arrived, excited for the menu and the comfortable atmosphere to have a late night bite in the city. Little did we know, the excitement would end there. We started with drinks- being told one item after another were out of stock to make the drinks, from alcohol to smoothie ingredients. Joke was on us when we finally did find things we could order, as the 2 alcoholic drinks were brought out more than 10 minutes before the smoothies were, so half of our table was served at a time. This ended up being a theme for the night as well. It took over 10 minutes for the first drinks, over 10 more for the second set, and even longer for our food. Appetizers came out at the same time as 2 of the meals, and then my own plate took another 10 minutes from there. So while my entire table could eat, I sat waiting for my food. By the time it came out, I just asked for it to be wrapped up so we could leave.

All of this, and I haven't even spoken about the quality yet. The steaks were not what they were supposed to be, nor were they cooked properly. The enchiladas were completely dry with nothing but bland chicken inside of the tortillas. The beans looked like something you'd find in a war camp. And the rice was as bland as the rest. Mexican food is supposed to be full of flavor, and yet there was none to be found. And I won't even get into the sugar water they dared call a "smoothie".

Overall, the cost was high for the extremely low quality. When my date talked to the waiter at the end of the "dinner" (if that's what we're calling this), he was told that it was the cook's first night and he was overwhelmed. Perhaps a good owner would not allow a cook to fly solo on a Friday night, but even that does not excuse that the wait staff should know better than to bring everything out separately. I likely wouldn't return unless it's really late and nothing else is open. I was hoping this place would be good since it's close to my house. The chips tasted as though like they were reheated at least 3X. I love having chimichanga so I order it often in Florida and everywhere really. Given the Latin population here, I figured it would be really good and flavorful and I was definitely disappointed. It had been years since I have written a bad review about a restaurant before even leaving The table. I did tell them about The chips and other service fails and they didn't care so The review was necessary. The club soda is $3.00 and a little extra soar cream is $1.00. No, things aren't free but that's excessive. It seems everyone around me has just been enjoying cocktails and there may be good reason for that! While their food and service is usually very good, today I had a terrible service. The waitress, Natalia, did not bring the chips they usually do; she was too busy. Yet she served it to (Latin American) customers that came after me. She did not bring it even after I asked again politely. She also never refilled my water.

When I asked her about all of this, wondering if today was busier than usual, she just said it was a normal day. Then when I told her that I was unsatisfied with the service, she did not apologize and only said "ok bye".

I've never had such rude servicr. I used to work at a Mexican restaurant so I should think I know that this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
