Terrible Service at Emack & Bolio's - Avoid at All Costs!

My wife and I visited Emack & Bolio's today, June 18, 2025, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.

From the moment we walked in, the saleswoman seemed unfriendly, but things escalated quickly. After placing our order, I paid with a $20 bill. The total was $17.52, meaning I was due $2.48 in change. However, she initially handed me only $1.50. When I politely pointed out that the change was incorrect, she then gave me an additional $0.75. I placed the money she'd given me on the counter and reiterated that it still wasn't the full amount. After that she almost threw the rest.

At this point, her demeanor became incredibly rude. She began gesturing emphatically with both hands towards the exit, effectively telling us to leave. I was stunned. She continued to point and repeat "goodbye," but it was delivered with such a hostile tone that it felt more like she was swearing at us.

Normally, if someone is short on change, customers might say "keep the change" or leave it as a tip in a designated jar. We had actually considered leaving an additional tip to bring it up to 20%, but I am so glad we didn't!

If you value your peace of mind and your good mood, I strongly advise you to find another place to buy ice cream. There are plenty of other establishments that offer both delicious treats and...

Horrible!

It was quite possibly the worst I have ever been treated in a restaurant.

We were a large group, 6 adults, and 8 or more kids. One of the kids (a 10-year-old girl) had a cone that broke and the ice cream fell and the woman behind the counter would not give her another one until we paid for it.

I told the woman that I wanted to talk to her supervisor, and the supervisor backed her up that it was not their fault that she dropped it, and I argued that it was because it was a faulty cone.

I asked for the manager's name and the woman gave me a first name only, and said she "didn't know the manager's last name"

That is either a lie, or an absolutely horrible business practice for an employee not to know their bosses name!

She put me on the phone with another manager or supervisor and I could not hear them very well and said I would call back today.

Disappointed does not begin to describe how I feel and I will absolutely spread the word about how a 10 year old girl...

We walked in to find not one single table cleaned off. Both trash cans were overflowing with trash while the young lady (dreads in her hair and 1.5” fake eyelashes) behind the counter was on her phone. We purchased our two ice creams and had to clear trash off a table to sit down to eat the ice creams. As it came time for us to leave, the employee was BACK ON HER PHONE behind the counter and we had to ask her to please empty the trash cans so we could have a place to throw our empty cups. She acted as it was a huge imposition for her to put her phone down and do her job! The $1.60 for a topping yielded about $.25 worth of sprinkling of nuts in top. We live across the street and have been wanting to try this place. We won’t be returning. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻 Sad, because the...

I liked it here! Atmosphere - fun, colourful, cheerful! How ice cream shop supposed to be. Service - very friendly! They explained me how things work in this specific shop, explained me the flavours - and trust me there are a lot of flavours available and the thing is that one flavour here is combining a couple already! So you can find things like - caramel banana or cookies and cream toasted with nuts or something. Definitely take your time and chose flavours that go well together. You can also ask server's favourite and the most popular public flavour and go from there. Food - very good! Creamy ice cream, loads of flavours, very generous scoops. Definitely come on in and give it a try!

Careful. Make sure you have the time to devote to this place. There is one employee. Each shake, smoothie and scoop is made meticulously and slowly. If you are in a group of more than one, plan to be there for quite a while. It’s in a great location along the freedom walk. So plenty of time to rest while you wait. And wait. And wait.
