I am a black woman. I am doing DoorDash. They looked right past me to the next customer very rude. I really felt discriminated against. I wouldn’t suggest this place to any black person. The manager kept calling me rude for trying to confirm my order. There was another driver there with a similar name I was just making sure. Then he continued to call me rude while he bought my second order out to me to my car with a smart smile on his face. I did not entertain him anymore. He was loving being rude to me. I would never eat here.. I just read the response back from the owner. His remarks that I was thrown out is false. This owner needs to show the video. In this video you will see #1 I left on my own. I was very patient. I left to bring my first order to the customer. I was getting in my car still taunting meThe owner ran out to bring me my second order. I stood at the counter with a whole line forming behind me. There was a worker there a woman she paid me no attention walked by me to address a white woman who just came in. It took a woman in line who happened to be a white to say “I Believe this woman was here first”. Thank you to that woman. I strongly advise the owner to share the video of my time in the store. So the whole world can see this manager is a liar. Why would you bring me my food if you kicked me out. POST VIDEO PLEASE! I need an apology from all of you. I will pray for this restaurant. I was in tears when I dropped off my deliveries. I was glad they said to leave it on...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for Fresh to open for a while; walked in around noon today and got take out. At the counter’s advice, I got a Capone sandwich (added basil mayo), which is Fresh’s version of an Italian. In a city blessed with a wealth of world-class Italian sandwiches—including at least two in Southie—I don’t say this lightly…it was outstanding!! The ciabatta was very fresh and the combo of banana peppers, herb vinaigrette, pickles and the added basil mayo made the sandwich stand out. I also tried the “sweety peppers,” expecting the usual goat cheese-stuffed Peppadews seen everywhere and was very happily surprised. Fresh’s version were a fuller, redder pepper with an awesome herbed cream cheese, drenched in olive oil…highly recommend. Finally, I had the curried chicken salad, which was good, although I typically like it much sweeter. The shop also has a solid liquor/beer/wine selection, including an Etna Rosso I’ve never seen sold in Boston.
All in all, Fresh is a great spot and a very welcome addition to our...
Read moreI’ll say this: The staff is warm and hospitable. They certainly try to make you feel welcome, which is very nice, and I live in the neighborhood, so selfishly I want this place to be good and to be successful.
But….
Charging $22 for a Reuben without even so much as a pickle spear on the plate, chips, or fries is a bit much (everything is an up-charge). I just don’t see it. The sandwich was just ok, not necessarily memorable (aside from the price - honestly). I understand that rents are sky high and it’s an expensive neighborhood in which to do business, but some of the prices are just a little bit out of hand for the perceived value.
Again I truly hope this place is successful and makes it long-term. Andrew Square needs more...
