Let’s start with the downside… This first part is Food Only: came here on a Sunday 8 am and got the smoked salmon toast ($12.50) and egg, cheese, arugulas and tomato breakfast; as you can see in the picture, I got one slice of bread and few slices of salmon(don’t know if the salmon is the best quality tho I’ll hope it is), I think 4 tiny onions rings, and 3 little radish (idk why even put them since you can’t even taste it) this is definitely overpriced! The egg, arugula and tomato was definitely better and it’s cheaper, even has better taste. I understand as a business you need cover many costs such as location, employees, utilities etc… but come on for 1 slide of bread with salmon for $12+ is pushing it. Tho good side, drinks only: I got a coffee latte with oat milk and matcha latte. The coffee was great! I think it was Colombian coffee and it wasn’t bitter and the temperature was perfect to drink it, lastly the presentation was outstanding! The matcha latte was also great! It was tasty and the temperature and presentation were outstanding! I’ll definitely come back for the drinks but not for the food. Tho I see some pastries that look gods but I didn’t see the prices but I might come back to try them. I wish I could give them better rate for their drinks but the food was less than ok. The cashiers and baristas were really nice and provide good...
Read moreMy fav specialty coffee place in boston, they have different origin specialty coffee beans, decaf specialty beans and good blends. They know their stuff and you can guarantee having a cup that would make your day! Cozy place, nice seating. Highly recommend!
Edit (one year later): George Howell WAS one of the best cafe I tried in Boston, but thats no longer true. I ordered pourover coffee multiple times and they serve it in a “ to go “ cup saying that they no longer have the flask and or serving tray. Which simply ruins the experience and taste for me. Paying 9$ for pourover coffee that would be served as americano ?
I asked them for dry cappuccino once, the barista was clueless and said that the foam cannot be made. With my humble experience in coffee, I can easily make that at home.
And today, I ordered avocado toast just to be shocked that there are no knifes. How can a cafe run out of utensils? The barista recommended that I use a metal fork because “ it would cut better “
Extremely disappointed. I will no longer visit...

As always, I scoured the three w's to find the coffee establishments to visit while in Boston. Let me just say, thank you to all those other enthusiasts out there who recommended George Howell!!!
So the day I visited GW it was roughly 14 deg F and to say a piping hot cup of Joe was welcomed is an understatement, but the heat wasn't the impressive part! The succulent deliciousness of coffee made with skill and precision is what we're talking about! So much so, that I actually circled back after wandering Boston Common to order another drink and purchase a couple of their house roasted offerings.
In summary - Knowledgeable baristas capable of hosting an exciting conversation regarding the product A plethora of delightful offerings from multiple regions And an array of accessories and gear that are actually useful put GW on list of I WILL ABSOLUTELY...
