I’ve had many spectacular dining experiences, but this might just be the best yet. Pure chance that we walked by and found the last two seats at the bar, the night was early. This was the Sunday of the Feast of St. Anthony and we totally lucked out without a reservation. The wine selection is phenomenal and menu is upscale Italian peasant style food. My search for Branzino brought us here and that is what I ordered. It was a no-brainer as to our second entree, a fire-grilled veal porterhouse. It’s been a long time since I had a piece of meat this perfect and, demi glacé?? Wow! This baby was tend-er and melt-in-your mouth. We devoured it and left nothing on the bone. (Is it proper to pick up the bone and chew it like a doggie?) we did. The branzino was succulent and surprisingly rich. I substituted fresh spaghetti for the potatoes and had the bright and lemony picatta sauce. Our bartender was attentive and professional even as the restaurant began to fill up in a very short time frame. We enjoyed seeing all the other dishes get brought to guests around us and wished we could have eaten more. We both decided when in Boston this is where we will dine every night. Elevated Italian comfort food personified. A delight to the senses.

Cozy and intimate Italian restaurant with great seafood and steak dishes. Recently took a visit for my friend’s birthday. We forgot to make a reservation in advance but were fortunate to find out that they had plenty of same day availabilities. Compared to other bustling spots in North End, the place had a more relaxed atmosphere, and we were able to snag a private booth seating which is a rarity in the area. We started off with the antipasto board and the spicy mussels which were excellent pairings with the wine we ordered. Chorizo in the mussels added a nice meaty flavor to the tomato stew, and we were all addicted to its rich flavors. From the entrées, our favorites were the fish stew and the veal porterhouse. The rich flavors of the marsala sauce were great complements to the tender meat, and the stew also had a nice burst of umami flavors that almost felt too good to be extracted from natural ingredients. Nevertheless, it wasn’t too overwhelming, and we wiped off the dish clean. Warm chocolate bread pudding was also a great finale to our meal, and our last minute birthday dinner plan was successful.

One of the top 3 north end restaurants - in my book. They are really friendly and genuinely interested in making sure you have a great experience. Go for the veal osso bucco - it is outstanding. The saffron risotto and crunchy carrots pair so well with the veal that it’s a truly amazing taste, texture and aroma combination. Some of pastas are also spectacular- the egg yolk and cheese ravioli is a go-to for us. There are some interesting drinks on the menu and good wines. Strongly recommend the espresso martini - one of the best I’ve had. Roast pork was good and the gnocchi bolognaise was outstanding- great flavour and texture. The Bronzino is good if you like fish. Dessert however does not match up to the standard of food here - it’s not bad - but the bar is set way higher by the mains and the sweet course underwhelms. Not a worry as in north end there are many ways to satisfy that craving.

Honestly, the food was delicious. Pasta was very nice (too bad it was not enjoyed), but with a million other places to dine in the area, next time we would go elsewhere. The service ruined the whole vibe. First of all we had reservations three days in advance, visiting from out of town, and was really looking forward to our night out in the North End. From being sat in the very back corner with no air circulation, to having to get up and get our own water, the service was horrible and made the whole experience not pleasant. The poor server was either very inexperienced and new or very overwhelmed, but there were multiple other wait staff that were helping clear tables, serve water and check on patrons. Unfortunately, our table continued to be by-passed with no one looking in our direction to even notice the water glasses were empty. I kid you not, the table directly across from us (but not in the corner) was serviced 5 different times by 3 different wait staff while we sat with empty glasses. We were able to get drinks ordered with our initial water glass fill, but when my husband finished his cocktail a considerable amount of time lasped and was not offer another until the food came, which of course meant he would not have a drink with his meal as there is a lapse of time from order, to make, to deliver of said cocktail and water glasses were empty. Eventually, in an effort to have something to wash our meal down with, I got up from our table and poured our own water from a nearby pitcher sitting at the server station. This was super embarrassing and not proper etiquette in an establishment such as this, but we desperately needed something to drink. Incredibly, after that if we even took a sip of water, someone was quick to top off. At this point however, too little to late as by this time the meal is over. I had ordered a glass of wine to have with my meal, with half of the meal left and no wine to enjoy we proceeded to sit and have conversation, eventually (I assume when the server noticed I was not eating, but did not notice the empty wine glass...), we were asked if we would like any boxes (...who wants to take left over lobster), then finally asked about another glass of wine?!? You are offering boxes and the meal is over, would have loved to have been offered during the meal....so a little sad we were not able to enjoy the meal. The service really made the whole experience go horribly wrong so we opted to not spend anymore money at this establishment and looked for dessert elsewhere in the area (glad we did, much better experience). Truly, this was such a disservice to the place as what little we were able to try was good....

Best Italian in the north end. Dave is as authentic as they get, and a complete hospitalitarian. Albert, our server, was passionate about the food and beverage and completely understood what we wanted as guests. Couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgable server who absolutely nailed date night for us. We tried the meatballs which were near perfect. Not too hard, not too loose, just the right bite. The fried zucchini flowers were light yet crispy… somehow they managed to have 0 oil flavor or extra oil on the plate. Reminded me of a tempura served on top of creamy polenta with a beautiful tomato sauce. The special was tuna belly with citrus and peppers. My date, who hates seafood, took a bite and was very impressed. We also tried the ricotta and egg yolk raviolini served in brown butter and sage sauce was next level. Typically my girlfriend is against egg yolk runny, she had a bite and literally took the plate away from me. Runny yolk, perfect Al dente pasta. Just exquisite. For entrees we orderered the halibut, which was cooked perfect and served on top of a creamy corn risotto with shaved asparagus, again, the seafood hater couldn’t get enough of it. We brought home leftovers to the father in law and he was thrilled. We also ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese, the bolognese was balanced perfectly with a porcini cream that cut down acidity and made it an unforgettable dish. Lastly, of all things, we tried the Thursday night burger special. This burger was cooked to perfection, served with a truffle cheddar, pickled onion, lettuce, bacon, aioli, and a beautiful brioche bun. The pistachio sundae for dessert alongside an Espresso martini ended our meal in perfection. All in all, I’d go back and try the other menu items without question. Recommend to anyone seeking an authentic, high quality Italian meal in the city, 10/10, no questions asked. Thank you Dave and Albert for ending our vacation on such...

I've lived in Boston for years and never been to Prezza! What a mistake! I went on a Sunday evening with a party of 6 for my Dad's birthday.

It was a party of 6. We got a few salads to start and 2 desserts to split. It's a group that loves their liquor, and it came to about $590 (with tip). Not too bad! But not cheap.

Details: Staff: the staff was accommodating, nice, thoughtful, and came over not too much but not too little. She had good recommendations, too! Wish I could remember out waitress' name!

Ambience: the music was great--not too loud, but when I did notice it, it was always something fun and either an oldy or just catchy.

Salads: We had the 'gem' and another salad. Both were great, big so we ordered 3 and split them.

Drinks: I had a great glass of rose, I know other people enjoyed their wines and cocktails. I think the bartender did a great job b/c my dad, his brother, and my aunt kept ordering their original drink rather than switching to wine!

Main courses: 3 people I came with had the pork chop, and they were obsessed with it. Completely happy with their choice. It was giant, but they all said they'd come back and get that again. 2 had the gnocchi--it was really great. Tiny little gnocchi in a wonderful sauce. I couldn't finish, but it was really great. 1 had the chicken parm. She loved it and could only make it through about half and took the rest home for dinner.

Desserts: We had a chocolate cake and a lemoncello cheesecake. Both were fun and festive, but I love chocolate, so that gets higher reviews from me.

Great place for a celebration! (And...
