Very old but beautiful church now that it’s finally back open again about 2 years ago after being closed for apparently repairs and restoration of the Church. no one said anything about at the time it was just “temporarily closed” for which it remained for nearly 5 years. after summer of 2019, no one thought it was going to be open again, and I heard rumors that about a year or so it might potentially close and be sold to a private company due to its age and safety, of the building for not only masses but visitors who many people in this area do since it is just less than 100 feet across from Paul reveres house. luckily none of that ever happened, and work about a year or so later began and they did what they could to restore its beauty, and welcome people and occasionally masses to resume again. now fast forward to 2023-2024 it’s back open again and it remains so. for a while the upper chapel was still in progress of work but now is complete. Very beautiful if you have a moment to visit both up and downstairs. Lots of original old statues from feasts that used to be held years back are housed here. Keep in mind you come in it is still VERY OLD and most things are delicate because everything is still original. so admire its beautiful architecture but please do not try and touch anything they did what they could but is enough to let you inside this church was saved and we are lucky enough that it remains a part of the north end and its traditions come in have a seat look around say a prayer abd just be happy you can visit again and witness a historic old church which fluid have been no more good job to whoever it was that saved this church and did what was needed for...
Read moreI visited Boston in November this year. One of the most places I was deeply impressed was the Northen Square and a magnificent building of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. One thing I was surprised. It was a five pointed star above Christ statue on it`s facade. I was born in the USSR and for me, as for all people from the USSR, such a star is a symbol of communism. Of course, it has a different meaning in this place. I really want to know what is the meaning. Thank you in advance for your...

Upper level Church has beautiful frescos. There is a small on your honor gift shop just inside the front door. The building was originally built as the Seamens' Bethel Church. It became a Catholic Church with the wave of Italian immigrants in the...
