Ugis Subs — Restaurant in Boston

Been eating here since I was 8. Just can't out grow this place. Have had arguments about Ugi's vs. Joe's similar to Biggie vs Pac arguments ( very heated arguments). Anyone can slap some steak between bread, but I promise you'll always remember these steak and cheeses from the first bite to the last. Forget Philly ( over rated), forget N.Y. you won't find a better steak and cheese up and down the the east coast between the 2. But I'm bias I'm a Ugis 40+ kid. Gotta be something in that ketchup I swear. No ketchup packets. Have them put ketchup over your fries right then and there in the paper bag for you...trust me. And yo, I never write these reviews for nothing.( they never even forget a fork and napkins in the bag...Never. Minor over looked detail that will piss you off when you leave other...

I ordered lunch from here today. Looking over the menu, the sound of chicken cutlets and cheese piqued my interest. Added bacon? I don't mind if I do. Throw in tomatoes, pickles, and a bit of mayo, what could go wrong?

Apparently quite a lot. The "chicken cutlets" were clearly frozen oven chicken strips, the tomatoes were diced and hard to find, mostly because the bottom of the sub roll was so flushed with mayo that they were swimming, turning half of the bread to a sort of mush. The aforementioned cutlets were essentially just floating on top with the, one shining star, bacon rested on top.

I wouldn't order from here again, and I'm just glad my work was paying for it.

I don't know why, but finding consistently good subs in Boston is hard. This place makes two staples of subs very well; Chicken Parm, and Steak subs are excellent here. I'm sure their other food is good, but I'm here for the subs. They actually use chicken filets, not chicken strips like so many other places do. And it's always cooked well, with good proportions of ingredients. If you are looking for a good sub, made the way they should be made, then this is your place. I honestly wish they would expand and open a 2nd location closer to Downtown. Can't recommend their subs enough! Unlike other sub shops, I've never regretted...
