I placed an order on Illegal Pete’s website May 1st for delivery. My order number was 26485922335457280 and I had set the delivery time for 7:30pm. Around 8pm I started wondering where my order was and I had not received any text alerts from DoorDash which I usually get because I have ordered delivery from your restaurant previously. I used the link in the email Illegal Pete’s sent me to track my order and tried calling the DoorDasher’s number, but it wasn’t in service. I then tried calling the restaurant multiple times, but no one picked up so I ended up having to call DoorDash’s customer service number. Upon reaching them, they tried calling the Dasher, but again it would not go through so they asked if I would like a refund or the order redelivered. I asked if we could get it redelivered, but when they tried placing it, it didn’t go through. They told me I would be getting a refund from Illegal Pete’s in 7-10 business days. I waited 10 business days and still no refund so I called DoorDash again and they said again Illegal Pete’s would refund me. I finally got a hold of a manager at the restaurant and she told me that DoorDash would be giving it. This whole ordeal has been very frustrating because both parties are telling me it’s the other’s responsibility for the refund and no one is helping me. My order was $45, which is worth it if I get it, but I did not get it and I’m out that money and will not be a customer of Illegal...
Read morePete's is decent if your into " white folks" style mexican food.It is mild in terms of flavors and spice levels. Its also much more expensive than mexican owned and run places in town. The food is good I often would get take out. However then they starting to fall off to me ..... But once they started to only allow you to order togo online....they lost me. I mean they literally have 4 college students buliding burritos( a job that one competent mexican could do alone.)the wait is really long and compounding that to the fact that you have to pay with cc online.....is just lame. Why not just Hire ppl who can work faster and just have one take phone orders/cashier, one building tacos, and one cooking in the back....oh and one bartender easy. But no they want us to stand in a long ass line for 15 mins when the Mexicans get you a burrito filled with fresh ingredients, hot tasty and HALF THE price, in half the time. That said the best taco in boulder today is at Los Dos Bros truck on 55th and Arapahoe. Huge menu, super fast and clean, half the price and authentic. With 2 latino workers not 5 poser in skate sneaks tryin to be cool with bad tattoos. ...and you can see from the massive amount of ppl there that the food is banging....and easy to...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in here while on vacation in Boulder and exploring the Pearl Street area. She was craving tacos and this place seemed to be one of the few that had some fairly normal selections.
The food was excellent and flavorful. My only gripe would be that there didn't seem to be any ground beef option for the tacos. This wasn't a big deal though, as I may have just overlooked it, and the shredded beef and the steak that I went with was delicious. The pico de gallo was also pretty spicy, but still great. I mostly mention that just to let anybody who doesn't expect that know ahead of time.
The atmosphere was pretty nice too, it's just a cozy Mexican joint and not some big fancy restaurant, which is a nice change of pace.
The only real issue I'd say we encountered during our meal was a homeless man who kept interrupting us to demand a drink from the cashier while we were trying to pay, and who smelled strongly of urine and somewhat ruined our appetite. The cashier was doing a great job trying to handle cashing us out and helping him though, and we understand that this has nothing to do with the restaurant itself.
Overall, a fairly pleasant experience. We'll definitely try it again next time...
