Came to try this new Thai place. I asked for the egg rolls, which they promoted, and the massaman curry. They had a note that they could do vegan and I requested tofu as my protien. The egg rolls were normal. A bit greasy. The dip was a sweet chili sauce with a touch of fish sauce and heat. I liked it. The curry is served with a side of rice. It was thin like a soup. The unfortunate thing was that it came with 2 pieces of chicken (see photo). If you are a true vegan, this could be a BIG issue. It was concerning to me as my mother is allergic to certain proteins and I cannot risk such a mistake for her food. The flavor of the curry was on point. Half of the potatoes were not fully cooked to the point i could not eat them. Most of the carrots were crunchy and I did eat those. They did have zero sugar Minute Maid Lemonade. So a nice option to diet drinks. The person who took my order asked me about it and I did tell him that the vegetables were not cooked. He had no comment and went about what he was doing. I found this unusual since they are a new shop and surely want to keep customers. It seemed that the curry base is ready to go and they add raw and semi cooked veggies in the prep. The kitchen is not paying attention to the food they are sending out. I ordered the basics of Thai, expecting no mistakes as it was so basic with only a tofu change. Very disappointed. The shop has minimal seating inside. It has 2 tables for outside seating. There is a parking lot on the north side of the building. I will not be going back.

Really wanted to like this place, because southern Davis County needs a good Thai restaurant. But I was sadly disappointed. First, I called (30-min before closing) to place a to-go order, and the kid who answered the phone didn't know the menu at all. He was asking someone else about every question I had. Then after a little back-and-forth, he told me there were out of almost everything on the menu. Finally, I got him to clarify they weee just fine cooking for the night. So I decided to try again the next day and dine-in for dinner. Well, must have been the same kid working the counter, because everything we asked about he literally turned around and asked someone else to clarify. So, they clearly haven't trained their staff on the menu or use of the POS machine. Took a little bit, but we finally got our food. This is where I draw the line. I ordered Pad Thai with extra chicken. I don't know who wrote their menu, but they clearly designed this as a fusion restaurant. Not authentic Thai. They loaded the dish with cabbage and carrots. These two ingredients are not listed on the menu. Due to my carrot allergy, I was unable to eat the food. After trying to pick around it for a few bites, I realized they use the two unlisted ingredients to fill out the dish, skimping on the desired parts. To top it off, very little chicken was included. Because they cooked the carrots into the dish, even with picking around for a few bites, I ended up with stomach problems for the next 24-hours.

Makmak is an absolute gem. Darling small establishment. Several small tables give this space a cozy intimate vibe. The decor is just right- minimal pieces with clean lines, high contrast. The staff is friendly and joyful while exhibiting excellent team work. We saw them handle a rush of patrons, balancing food deliveries smoothly, and keeping every table cleaned and ready for the next party. The food. Oh the food. We started with two of the hand made Nadda's egg rolls. They are perfectly crisp- flavorfully filled with veggies, meat, and rice noodles. Flavorful enough without a dipping sauce, but the sweet chili sauce is good too. We ordered the Massaman Curry with Beef and the Mak Mak Nam Tok. The curry was perfectly seasoned, tender veggies, and melt in your mouth beef that was out of this world. The Nam Tok was one of the most delightful flavors of fried chicken ever. It has citrus notes that evoke a brightness of flavor without overpowering the other seasonings of the fried chicken pieces. The accompaniments of pickled red onions and sliced cucumbers added hints of flavor and texture without detracting from the fabulous chicken. Do not pass up this quaint little stop. Worth every penny. Thank you for the delicious food! We'll definitely be back! *I ate some of the curry before getting a photo- it was filled to the top when they brought it out. Great portion size!

My wife found this awesome little place a week ago and now we're driving down from Ogden every week to get Thai food! I'm half Thai and I can honestly say the food is amazing and tastes just like Mom's! The atmosphere is so cheery and vibrant, they have outside seating as well as the air conditioned indoor seating. The Khao Soi was delicious, the mango sticky rice was awesome. The owners are so sweet and amazing and legit Thai, their story is so cool. I cannot recommend this place more! 10/10 will come back. Update 10/1/24 - the only issue I have with this place is the fact that the front counter kids taking your order have no idea what's in the food. I have a shellfish allergy and despite the "shellfish allergy" checkbox on the online ordering, I asked one of the kids working up front what that does if I check it, they had no idea. Every time we go in and ask if a new dish has oyster sauce, they have no idea. They need to train the front desk staff better. It would suck if someone has to go into anaphylactic shock before the front gets better training. I get the impression they don't even remove the oyster sauce if you request shellfish allergy, so why have that option? I've also gotten conflicting responses to that question from different front desk kids, seems like if you have only 8 dishes that should be an easy and consistent answer to the question UPDATE 9/26/25 After an 11 month hiatus, we decided to stop by when we were in Bountiful and give these guys another try. It's refreshing to see that they've identified on their digital menu which items have fish sauce in them, among other allergens, which is awesome! Food is fantastic as usual! Thanks for taking my feedback from a year ago and making some positive changes! Definitely be coming...
