Terrible terrible terrible! I've continually had pieces of my mail lost or incorrectly delivered, and I've received items of mail of my neighbors and complete strangers in my box on almost a daily basis - which means others are receiving MY mail and not all of them are honest or patient enough to try to return it. This is a continual long-term issue that I've complained about before. Recently an expensive International package was returned to Spain for no reason. I was never notified that it had even arrived. I have a photo of the package and it was stamped "unclaimed" but I had never received any notices that it needed to be claimed! That was the last straw. I took time off work so I could actually go in to talk to the manager. She apologized over and over but said there was nothing she could do now to compensate me for the returned package. She nodded knowingly when she saw my address and said she knew exactly who my carrier was (her reaction indicated it's a problem employee). She would "talk to my carrier" (what good would that do?). She thanked me for coming in because "if no one tells us there is a problem, we don't know there's a problem" (but it's obvious they've had plenty of other complaints about plenty of other problems and things don't seem to be improving) I asked her to please investigate the package issue - there were tracking numbers she could use to figure out exactly what had happened. She never followed up. She told me that the ONLY thing I could do to ENSURE I receive my international packages is to put my mail on HOLD so that when the package arrived it would be held securely at the post office location until I came and signed for it and that would guarantee that it would not be returned to the country of origin. (because apparently she can't simply ensure my mail carrier is replaced by someone who knows how to do their job) So, last week I went to the hassle of putting my entire home mail service on VACATION HOLD. I did this using the secure online tool that the manager told me to use, and after following the instructions I received a confirmation by email stating that my mail would indeed be HELD beginning March 26. Well, no surprise - It is now March 30 and we are STILL RECEIVING daily mail into my mailbox that I find waiting for me when I come home from work each night! So, apparently this post office can't even handle HOLDING mail properly! With additional international packages en route to me right now *(required to be signed for) I feel sick inside. I have little hope I will receive them. Plus, what if I really was out of town and needed my mail HELD?! My mail box would be completely overflowing by now. Anyone could have stolen my mail and/or my identity. This post office has earned 100% of my distrust and disgust. I've never experienced so many problems with USPS until now. I'm being forced to take more time off work to go find out why they are not holding my mail properly. And, if they DO get their heads screwed on straight and figure out how to hold my mail, then I will have to take MORE time off work to go back to claim the mail during business hours! WORST...
Read moreI had a package that was coming internationally and I've recently moved from West Bountiful to Woods Cross both cities that this post office serves. I was informed that after my package was forwarded. For some reason it wasn't shipped out for 3 days and then was disposed. When I asked them what that meant they said that it was destroyed, when I asked them what they meant by "destroyed" they said it was "shipped to the plant to be destroyed" when I asked them where the plant was they said West Valley, when I asked them what address they said they couldn't give me one. I said "you sent it somewhere so you know the address" they told me "the drivers take it there" and I said "so where did the drivers take it?" after haggling with them over this they finally gave me the address of the salt lake Post office. When I arrived at the salt lake Post office and asked them what happens to disposed packages that come from Bountiful they had no idea what I was talking about. They insisted that if a post office was to dispose of a package that they would keep it at that post office until the 90 days had past that it hadn't been claimed and then it would be forwarded to the recovery center. When I confronted the Bountiful post office about it they told me "what did you think the salt lake office was going to tell you" I asked them if they were calling the salt lake office liars and they said no. Then when I finally asked to see a report they gave me one which said that they disposed of it at Bountiful which was not what they had told me before. I don't understand how government employee can get away with lying to me and "destroying" my property aka sending it somewhere else where they don't track it. When I ask the bountiful post office where disposed items go they told me that they don't know and that the reason why they don't know is because if they did know then they would be accused of theft when things weren't there. If we can't hold them accountable who will? During the 3 days that they held my package after it had been scanned in as being forwarded, they made no attempts to contact me before disposing of my item. They made no attempts to contact me after my item was disposed. It was only when I went into ask what happened that they explained this bizarre story to me. If you want answers know that you're not going to get them from Kevin. Kevin will lie to you and tell you contradictory information I was told on the phone by USPS that I could file a missing mail claim online or in the post office The Bountiful post office had no idea how to file it so instead of telling me the truth that they were just incompetent and had no idea how to file it they told me that it had to be done online another lie. I am very upset by the fact that our post office believes that they can take it upon themselves to destroy our mail and to lie to our faces all because "we're just following policy" 'we're just following orders' is never an acceptable...
Read moreBoy I can relate to some of that issues that many of you are having. I live not too far from this particular post office, and and it is close enough that I can go get stamps from the machine in the middle of the night, there are certainly other things that I take issue with,as do many of you commenting on this. I had a package that I was supposed to receive yesterday, but of course, they want a signature. Why? (the package is a small part for a cell phone that I am going to repair). Nothing that I get from UPS ever requires a signature because they can leave at the door if no one answers when they knock. This where I get frustrated with this particular post office. First,I go to USPS and click on where it says re-delivery options, fill that out and submit. Then, just to be on the safe side,I mark on the re-delivery note where it says to leave it in my mailbox, signed my signature, etc. So what happens today? Got a sorry we missed you thing just like I did yesterday. I check the appropriate box to have it left at the door here at my apartment, and of course, again, they disregarded that. This is now the third time this has happened. For all the people who are having good experiences? Few and far between, and I would agree, the few times I have gone over to this location? They are quite slow(the Farmington location moves much quicker even when there are a lot of people there, they are much more efficient, and sometimes even with less people). Guess I will have to start having things sent to work now,at least that way I know it will arrive without any issues. The part itself costs only a few bucks, but, they wont even leave it at my door? Even though I checked the appropriate box? That is not acceptable. The Kaysville and Farmington branches are much better than this one,and I would encourage everyone who has had bad experiences here to go to one of those two locations, you should not have any issues at either place. I am real curious as to what other horror stories people have had with the Bountiful location. They could certainly do much better than they are currently doing. Two stars...
