Id give this place a five star and would have til this last week. I generally enjoy the owners and they’ve helped me find lots of items I had in mind for various needs and family members. I normally shop there with my wife.
This last week, out of the blue, they got very political with me, which I can tolerate, but they made very disparaging comments about LGBTQ folx commenting on regular/normal queers versus not regular/normal queers and mentioned sex with trees and animals when referencing queer folx. They also had a few comments about trans folx.
I mentioned that (sex with trees and animals) I wouldn’t call that queer on either account and was tolerant and firm on my stance, but also polite. They complained about people cutting off friendships for voting for trump and I politely listened to their comments.
To be fair, we have a business relationship and I appreciate their store, and if I hadn’t already paid, I’d likely have left without purchasing. Bringing up all that stuff out of the blue to a woman they KNOW is lesbian really showed me they felt the need to say these things to me particularly. The wife even mentioned to the husband that I’m normally there with my wife when shopping.
She also mentioned that the “regular” gay men they know can’t stand drag queens and trans folx, and they’re not sure how the womxn think of it but, they know that’s how the regular queers feel and the regular queers also voted for trump. Needless to say, I sadly wont be back. Not because they voted for trump, but because they felt the need to share so many outspoken opinions with me as a consumer and I was wildly uncomfortable.
I wish they’d just not shared. My family and my extended family won’t be back. My and their loss as I truly...
Read moreThe best way to describe my experience is CORRUPT, SKETCY, and BIGOTRY at its finest! The most rude encounter I've ever had. First words out of the owner's mouth (Cheryl) was, "I don't talk to men!" I came in to try and sell some dolls. In the beginning they "wanted" to help me but the tables turned quickly. They agreed to show the dolls to customers that are collectors, but ultimately ended up selling them without my permissions. When I called them out, both Rex and Cheryl lied to me, called me a liar, and wouldn't follow what was agreed upon. They tried to profit off my valuable collectibles without disclosing how much they sold them for (even though they didn't have permission to sell them) and lied again by "paying me off" with an insulting low-ball price that they said we had previously agreed upon (which wasn't even discussed). They must think they are smarter than everyone else or suffer from severe memory loss. As previous customers have said in their reviews, I know after we left the store they spoke badly about us to their other customers (terrible character flaw). And I know they are going to post some smart aleck response to this negative review - down playing what actually happened. These people don't deserve to be in business in our community. We need honest people who treat customers fair and equitably. STAY AWAY and spend your hard earned money where you'll be...
Read moreThey have a spectacular array of antiques & the man that owns the Shop is very helpful & fair when it comes to pricess. He does an amazing job on his Website, (maybe the best I've seen) keeping it up to date & plenty of pics & info & would recommend his shop to fellow Antique Hunters above any other. HOWEVER, if you are greeted by a women who works there sometimes, do yourself a favor and turn around & walk out, come back another time, she's Extremely condescending & Erogant beyond belief which is too bad cause the Man that owns it is the Complete opposite & doesn't deserve the lack of business she has cost him. I've walked out a couple times when I came to spend well over a grand because I felt accosted & completely disrepected by The "Dragon Lady" & her attitude towards not just myself but my wife & other customers as well. So if you get the Polite & Welcoming Man you're going to be in luck just stay away from the...
