Visited Local Taco for the first time for lunch today (Friday). We arrived a few minutes after they opened and there were already two tables seated. We were acknowledged upon entering and told to sit wherever we liked. We we were given menus and our drink order taken within a minute of sitting down.
I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and Philly Steak Tacos with a side of Mexi-Tots. My friend ordered the Southern Fried Taco. Our food was served quickly, maybe 7-10 minutes after ordering. Both of my tacos were great but the Philly Steak was my favorite, loved the fried peppers, onions and the cheese, could have used a little more steak, though. I was impressed with the freshness of the pico and slaw. I also loved that the tortilla wasn’t too thick so it didn’t overpower the contents. All the flavor combos worked together well and were as described on the menu. The Mexi-Tots were great too, loved whatever the sauce was that was drizzled on top. By the time we finished our meal there wasn’t an empty table to be had so I’m glad we went early!
I loved the varied menu and am already planning a future visit to try different items. This is not like any other offerings in Bowling Green. The portion sizes could have been a little larger for the price but I left happy and will...
Read moreIf you have any type of allergy, don’t come here. I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate my serious gluten and egg allergies and was told yes. We came and I asked for the waitress’ recommendation and made the modifications needed for the Korean and the Philly taco. She assured me both were gluten free. They came out on flour tortillas, so she took them back and I emphasized my true allergy, that they couldn’t just put the innards in new corn shells. They made me fresh tacos and they were delicious. It wasn’t until I was through the Korean taco that I realized that the steak had definitely been marinated in soy sauce.. out of curiosity I asked if they used GF soy sauce, especially since I told them of my allergy. The waitress went and checked and sure enough, no, it’s got gluten/wheat in the soy sauce. The waitress was very apologetic and said that they’ve been telling people that the Korean taco is gluten free. I asked to talk to the manager. He came out and belittled my allergies and blamed me and said I should have known better than to order it and continued that I should have ordered rice and grilled chicken to be safe… The meal was comped, but doesn’t excuse how disrespectful the...
Read moreThe most important part of this review is the food quality- it is AMAZING!!!
So i had a little problem at the bg local taco last night- the menu says if you would like a burrito instead of a taco to ask the waitress- which i did, she said no problem. I thought "a $3.25 burrito? I had better order 3" Well, when i got my first burrito, it was BIG! I was super impressed! As it turns out, one burrito is 3 tacos, and is $10. I had NO idea, i didnt know 1 burrito was 3 tacos, i didnt know how big the tacos were, or how big the burritos were. Once i got them i knew it must have been too good to be true- but once i got the check i was SHOCKED. Clearly there was a mixup, and they made it right RIGHT away. Everyone can make mistakes, its how a restaurant handles it that makes the difference. I would have been totally happy with 1 burrito, its plenty of food, and the quality is PHENOMINAL- and they have a crazy range of AMAZING flavors. I wish i wouldnt have made the mistake of ordering 3 burritos, i wish the waitress or the menu would have mentioned the price difference, but im sure they will fix that.
I will...
