Spent a week at BGSU this summer, and our meals were taken here each day. Food was okay, but several items were found to be slimy, rotten, or extremely over cooked. Also had an incident where several of the people with us got food poisoning after eating the same item. Majority of the items seem as though it was just frozen food that was reheated in a microwave or deep fried, which is odd for a cafeteria that is supposed to do culinary training.
Additionally, service from staff was consistently rude and condescending, and we were treated like we were a massive inconvenience to them. Every question was greeted with a sigh, even simple things like “Can we please have plates to use?” I know dealing with students is a challenge, but when every aspect of your body language communicates condescension, it’s not a good look.
The only plus was the environment. The facility is very visually appealing, and the loft dining area presents an interesting experience. Overall, the dining area seemed to be fairly clean, and tables were regularly wiped...
Read moreThe Oaks is a dining hall on campus at Bowling Green State University. They offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten friendly options. There's a large variety of food to be found here, including international fare, an allergy station friendly towards elimination diets, and appetizers.
There is a pizza station (Flour & Sauce) with several types of pizza available each day and a specialty pizza that rotates. Many stations are available throughout the dining hall, including Heart of the House, Flips, Whats Ap, Thrive, and Rooted. Rooted typically features vegetarian and vegan fare and I really enjoy this station. Additionally there's a salad bar station (House of Green) with soups and a dessert bar.
If you have food allergies and concerns you can let the staff know. The staff will answer any questions you may have and take food allergies seriously. I highly recommend eating here if you're on campus, as there's something for everyone to enjoy and the food...
Read moreWhoa mama, all you can eat!? Sign me up! ...well... it was just okay for me. Sort of pricey, brought the whole fam, 2 kids under 10 and 2 adults. My nephew is a freshmen and we thought it would be a nice place to eat for lunch. This was on a Sunday, so even with it being almost 1:30pm, they were still serving breakfast, or brunch if you will... So, that is a plus for hung over college students. Fairly decent selection, but nothing to rave about. I tried pretty much everything (lunch wise) the tomato chicken was okay a little bland, rice was good. Good beef chili. Salad was fresh, liked that they had leafy green stuff. Overall, it was pretty okay for college eats, definitely a healthier option than other places on campus. I still have fond memories of eating at the Sundial 20 plus years ago, but maybe I didn't know good food...
