Not sure what has happened to this place. The last 3 or 4 months and the food has gone downhill. It was really a good place but maybe new management, or something. Staff is still friendly but food quality just isn't there anymore. Too sad.
This weekend we made our 3rd visit to Bramer's in about the last month or so. We visited the first time because of the high reviews and we knew very little (nothing) about Brazilian cuisine. But we enjoyed our first visit (and taste) and was impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the staff.
The second time.. we just stopped in to grab some cake slices, having already had our dinner. But looking into the pastry case I saw these fried looking 'things' (Coxinha Chicken Catupiry) and decided I had to take one with me. It turned out to be delightful... flavorful, crispy outside and chock full of seasoned chicken inside.
And just a quick word about their cakes (we have tried 4 different kinds so far). The cakes are honestly much better (moist and flavorful) than those dry things you get at most every bakery around here. And the slices are huge (seriously) and for less than $4 !! The whole cake is just under $50 and they are also huge!
This past weekend we made our 3rd visit. Our friends from Brazil were in for vacation and so we treated them to Bramer's for dinner. They were all impressed with the food ('authentic') and the hospitality. One of the guys (manager or owner maybe??) even sat down to get into the group photo.. which was a nice, welcoming touch. And later he brought us a big slab of Flan(?) compliments of the house. We took one of the 30 lb cakes home with us and the whole group enjoyed it with coffee.
Their menu is really kind of extensive. I mean, how can you offer that many different dishes and still keep all the food fresh. Somehow... they DO! The salads were fresh, their french fries are great, the pizza was so flavorful, the pork chops (my wife is still talking about), the beef... everything we have tried has been very enjoyable. Next time, I hope to try one of their gourmet hamburgers.
Anyway... you might can tell that I am enamored with this place. Simply a pleasant dining experience and at a really fair price. I do not understand how they can sell such a large slice of delicious cake for the price they do.... but I am glad they do.
If you are reading this review and are considering giving them a try... please do. I hope your experience will be as positive and pleasant as...
Read moreThis restaurant is excellent! If you are looking to try something new, go here. It's a different experience but all positive. First, I think the entire staff speaks Portuguese, which makes the experience feel authentic. Not to mention they are all so nice and tentative. It's also a very nice restaurant but feels casual. We ate outside so we could enjoy the weather and so my toddler could make a ruckus without disturbing anyone. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD, everything tasted exactly like you hope it will, from the main course to the appetizer to the sides. We had pichana peppers which is a steak dish, and Frango something which is a fried chicken dish (not your traditional American fried chicken, more like chicharrón de pollo) and all 4 in my family really, really enjoyed it. Although just me and my husband ordered, the meals were big enough that I brought leftovers to my mom and brother, so a meal for two fed 4, and the chicken was supposedly an appetizer. The fries were surprisingly good and crispy and the brussel sprouts side was so satisfying. AND LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE DESSERTS! I thought about saying nothing so I could keep it all to myself but I'm sharing to keep this great place in business. The passion fruit mousse is one of the most divine things I've eaten and the chocolate mousse is as good as I've ever had as a world traveling foodie. The flan is some of the best I've had as well. To boot, this is the most reasonably priced restaurant I've been to recently in South Florida, something very hard to find these days. I can't wait to go back as there's so much eclectic stuff on the...
Read moreTried Bramer's for the first time and was pretty disappointed. It has a nice atmosphere and looks good inside. However, it's a bit odd because it looks like a regular restaurant and its setup where you'd get table service, but you order at the counter, pay and take a number to wherever you want to sit and they bring food to you. We were confused when we first walked in, and so were the three.other sets of people who walked in after us. I asked for recommendations since it was our first time. The mini croquettes were recommended and were pretty decent. The steak and peppers were also recommended and looked good in their pics online, so I went with that. I ordered the meat cooked medium and got flavorless, very well-done chunks that were incredibly hard to chew. The mac and cheese was also recommended and was equally disappointing. I was told it was made from scratch, but it was no better than out of a box. The blueberry and strawberry salad barely had any fruit in it, which we added shrimp to, was equally disappointing. We got 4 overly cooked and tough small shrimp for the extra $6 and a prepackaged Ken's dressing packet. It was a $50 meal on top of all that disappointment. Some places you only need to go to once to try them out. This is one of them for me. Will never...
