I am so sad to see what had become of my favorite local restaurant. Four square had amazing food. The menu was very unique with an Italian flare, I enjoyed everything including the pizza, la bistecca sandwich, arrancini, calamari, carbonara, etc. Each menu option was a step above average and we returned week after week.
We visited a few weeks ago with high hopes and were quite disappointed. The menu is basic to say the least. Had the calamari that came with blue cheese and carrots and celery...it wasn’t buffalo.
My husband had a burger that looked like a smaller burger than a McDonald’s burger microwaved. He was very disappointed given his love for the burgers at the old Four Square. I had a bar pizza which was nothing to write home about, didn’t compare to any legendary bar pizzas in the area. I’m impartial to their old pizza as bar isn’t my favorite but this bar pizza was subpar at best.
Again, the menu is basic. ‘Burger’, ‘chicken sandwich’, ‘pretzel’, ‘basket of fries’ etc. Nothing above average that made four square so unique before.
One other comment is that I feel it’s missing it’s identity. Is it a bar or is it a restaurant? It’s too small to be a bar but only had about 5 tables, all high tops so it’s not family friendly anymore.
I’m not rushing back, as sad as it makes me. I’ll give it a few months and hope for...
Read moreNice cozy atmosphere, great food, reasonable pricing, and a good selection of beers. Staff are lively, knowledgeable, and usually attentive.
Ive been coming for years and would easily recommend almost anything on the menu. The burgers and pizza are some of my favorite around. Wings are really good but I think are a little expensive for the amount you get. Excellent fries (kind of thick, slightly crunchy outside, soft inside).
The picture posted is the crab rangoon pizza. If you love crab rangoons, this is absolutely the pizza for you. They honestly couldn't have done a better job combining the flavors of both foods. That being said, I couldn't eat more than 2 slices of it, unless I was fairly drunk, as it was a little on the heavier side due to the sweet and sour sauce on it. I'd only get it again as an appetizer.
They run really great specials during the weekday. I think they have $5 carry dine in and out pizza on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Burger and a beer specials, and dinner with wine for two. They may have changed them so don't quote me.
This place is one of my absolute favorites in the area. It's a true hidden gem, which is hard for me to say because I absolutely hate that phrase but I couldn't think of anything better...
Read moreI was in the area and knew I needed some late lunch. So I look up some places around Weymouth and found this to be a pretty good spot. It was about 4pm when we walked in. There were a bunch of people at the bar already enjoying their drinks. My wife and I took a seat at a table and Chris came to greet us promptly and get our drinks.
Over all the environment is excellent. I love that the music isn't blasting like a rock house. It was comfortable enough to have a conversation. The restaurant and the restroom is clean. You can also see the kitchen since there is a window looking through it.
I chatted with Chris and he gave a few recommendations. We finally ordered a burger and a fish sandwich. The fish is really good but the burger was a bit dry (not the worst). Chris also gave us refills on out drinks promptly.
They also have a very good beer selection, daily special deals, daily special menu. Overall I would recommend a try and will likely to go back when I am in...
