I ordered a quesadilla ($16), and assumed chips and dip would come with the meal. It did not. In fact, they didn’t put ANY salsa, guac, or dip of any kind alongside the quesadilla. Just two lime wedges.
I ordered the insanely expensive $14 chips and dip appetizer, because I really wanted some salsa to go with my quesadilla, and I was hungry enough to eat some chips.
I said “I’d love chips and salsa”. She said “we have that. It comes with guac too but if you want some queso we can do a little of all three as well, no problem.” I didn’t ask for queso, it was suggested, and I said “okay. That sounds good.”
The chips came, and I said “you know, for $14 I thought this was a crazy expensive appetizer, but it is a big portion.” She said nothing.
The bill came. $38 instead of $30!!! That means the appetizer of chips with a few dips came to $22?! MORE THAN THE QUESADILLA??
I left no tip. I don’t do that ever, but when a server charges you half the prize of the dish for adding one dip, and doesn’t bother to tell you?! That’s really bad service.
But also: how does a taco place simply not serve salsa or guac with a quesadilla?! And then charge soooo much to ask for them ($6-$8?!)
I thought my lunch would be a normal price ($16). Then paying for chips felt like a lot ( $14 is crazy for an appetizer of chips, but I was hungry). But my lunch came to $38?!
I know a great taco place near my house that makes quesadillas, chips and salsa included, for $12 a meal. This is highway robbery. Go elsewhere. I just spent my groceries on a meal, and it wasn’t even amazing. It was just okay 🤦♀️.
I almost always leave five star reviews (check my other reviews). The fact that I didn’t here says something.
Due to the rude response of the owner, who clearly doesn’t care if his servers charge extra prices without telling his guests, I’ve passed this review along. My friends and I will not return. It’s one thing to make a mistake. It’s another to be mad at your customers for calling you out on it. I DID tell my servers (apparently this respondent) how upset I was. The response was “sorry.”
To overcharge and then do nothing about it it?! That’s why the review.
I lost my job recently, so, no, I don’t tip on top of being charged $8 (nearly 1/3 the cost of my meal) MORE than I agreed to pay. To ask your customer to swallow your incompetence is proof of an entitlement that I don’t want in the service industry. Plenty of better options.
You asked for recs! Lunita in Quincy. Quesadilla is $13.50, and it comes with sides.
Oh! And, yes, my quesadilla was delicious dipped in salsa (that’s why I bought the salsa and chips).
And groceries? Trader Joe’s baby!!! $45 for my...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. My recent experience at Uno Mas was, hands down, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had — and that’s saying something. I don’t normally leave reviews, but the level of rudeness, unprofessionalism, and straight-up disrespect I witnessed from the manager, Nicole, was enough to make me never set foot in this place again.
Let me be clear: the food was fine — nothing worth bragging about, but edible. The real issue here is Nicole. You’d expect a manager to set the tone for the staff, help resolve issues, and make customers feel welcome. Nicole did the complete opposite. From the moment we had a minor issue with our order, her attitude was aggressive, defensive, and honestly shocking for someone in a leadership position.
Instead of listening to the concern calmly, she rolled her eyes, talked over us, and treated us like we were an inconvenience for simply expecting what we ordered. When we asked politely to have an incorrect item corrected, she snapped back with, “That’s not what you said,” like we were trying to scam her. Excuse me? It’s a $14 taco plate, not a diamond ring. Her whole energy was like she couldn’t be bothered — like we were ruining her night by daring to speak up.
And it didn’t stop there. We watched her walk around the restaurant with this air of superiority, barely acknowledging customers and giving curt, dismissive answers to others who clearly were also having issues. She didn’t apologize, didn’t try to make anything right, and definitely didn’t care how anyone felt. I actually felt bad for the servers who had to work under her, because if she treats customers this poorly in public, I can only imagine how she acts behind the scenes.
The bottom line: Nicole should not be managing anything, let alone a customer-facing restaurant. She brings the entire energy of the place down and makes the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. Uno Mas could be decent with better leadership, but as long as someone like her is in charge, it’s not worth your time or money.
If management at Uno Mas reads this, take this seriously — your customers notice when someone in charge is making the experience worse. Train your managers better, or replace them. Because Nicole? She’s actively driving people away from...
Read moreAs a Landing resident I was so excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. I loved Rivershed and was excited to try Uno Mas especially because I’m a huge fan of Liberty Tavern. That being said, I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I’ll start by saying that the hostess was extremely friendly added us to the list and said we could check if the bar was open. Thankfully there were two bar seats open when we arrived and we were able to sit immediately. This is when it went downhill, the bartender Fernando was extremely rude. The restaurant was relatively loud given how busy it was which I expected but Fernando would get an attitude if we couldn’t really hear him, we ordered drinks and he was so rude about our customizations. We then proceeded to order an appetizer and entrees. Our appetizer came out (guacamole) and it was one of the worst I’ve had. Huge onions and had absolutely no salt, we had to ask for some to add to it. My friend’s entree then came out a few minutes later. I gave it a few more minutes then asked Fernando the status of my entree he says “oh I forgot I’ll put it in now”. No apology. Nothing. By that point I cancelled my entree because I was appalled at how he was treating us. To make matters worse given that we were sitting at the bar we had a front row seat to Fernando making drinks. I was mortified as I witnessed him touching the ice with his BARE HANDS. We immediately decided to leave and go to Brava down the street where we had an amazing experience. If you want AUTHENTIC Mexican go to El Sarape down the street where you’ll at least get...
